The room was excellent, although the chairs were a bit worn. As a hotel, it wasn't fit for purpose. When we arrived on the Thursday afternoon, we wanted a drink from the bar, but were told it was closed, although someone did come a pore us a drink. On the Friday, we were told the bar was closed until the evening, and there was no one to serve us. (Although we did see members of staff sitting outside with glasses of wine). When we went to have dinner in the restaurant that evening, we were told it was shut, and we would have to go over to the adjacent pub if we wanted anything to eat or drink. My wife, being disabled, couldn't walk that far, so we ended up back in our room, having a few snacks that we, luckily, had with us. As for breakfast, the bacon came out hard, obviously cooked sometime before, and kept warm. There were no grilled tomatoes, as listed, only tinned tomatoes. These came out very thick, like they had been mixed with tomato puree, and had a very 'tinny taste' . The poached eggs were 'hard boiled', and the hash brown was hard, and had black bits in it. And it was only tepid, not hot. My wife was served coffee, not the tea that she had ordered. In all, my wife described it as 'Something out of Fawlty Towers'.
