Went today was looking so forward to going to treat my husband for his birthday . Walked into the reception, which wasn't too bad the receptionist was really nice and friendly . Our room was on the 2nd floor , and when we walked into it found the bedding was discusting and dirty . The carpet was that old, and the furniture was antique . Also the dressing table was broken in afew places . For £106 for 1 night, I expected a little better . Went downstairs and had a word with the general manager about getting some of the money back after her took a deposit out of it . They refused and was really rude saying he didn't want to give anything back . Went upstairs where my husband fetched the cases downstairs and told reception we wasn't stopping . Asked a lady at the reception to ask the general manager to ask for our breakfast money back he wouldn't pay it back but refused to come see us . Unless you want to be unhappy and they won't give you a refund I wouldn't even bother going . Spoke to a few of our friends today the restaurant food is microwave meals discusting . The way we were treated with the general manager was appaling

I had read some awful reviews about the Wishing Well but our family booked 3 rooms, one was a family room. All were basic but all were spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We didnt eat here but did use the bar which looked as if it had been recently updated.

We have stopped at the Wishing Well in the past and thought it OK, but that was several years ago. Sadly, our most recent stay at the hotel was not a pleasant one. The hotel is now looking very “tired” and is in desperate need of refurbishment. The rooms a very shabby with missing veneer from the units, threadbare carpet, loose wobbly toilet seat, grubby shower head, sticky floor in the bathroom. The corridor leading to our room had big dips in the floor and again the carpet was grubby and threadbare. Breakfast was a joke, desperately under staffed in the restaurant. No cups, no glasses, no orange juice no bread for the toaster, no side plates, no ketchup, clay cold undrinkable coffee. The poor girl behind the counter was running round taking orders and trying to refurbish the drinks etc. but seemed unable to cope. £10.95 for a “full English” - what a waste of money. It took ages to come and then they had to apologise because they’d run out of black pudding (one hour after opening). The breakfast was undercooked with the cheapest of sausages, practically raw tomatoes and cold baked beans that seemed to have come straight from the tin unheated. The only saving grace were the staff, who all seemed friendly. At £80 to £95 a night it is far from good value. We won’t be stopping there again.

The check in was done by a sad person who thought thd end of the day was closer but realised she had yo come back thd next day. The rooms were clean and well laid out. The furniture looked from the 60s and was in a state of disrepair from that decade as well. The beds were like a trampoline, soft and so bouncy my wife nearly hit the roof when sitting down. Carpet looked better than a dogs dinner but not by much. The single ply toilet paper allowed me to give myself a prostate exam. We asked for a double bed but got two singles, just like the first time i visited the wife's parents, thanks for that memory. Overal, an expensive experience, one which we will not repeat unless the Russians invade and force us to.
