I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to a family with kids it is wrongly advertised for kids absolutely not a kids hotel the food in the ivy bar was poor and found some of the staff a bit ignorant and rude, the room we stayed in 216 needs some cleaning the windows are filthy the bathroom and bedroom could do with some touching up room service was terrible we stayed for three nights and not one morning was our room cleaned or beds made they just emptied the bin no air conditioning in the rooms the heat in the rooms in unreal we had to ring down for a fan wouldn’t recommend this hotel for a family absolutely nothing like it’s sister hotel the amber springs it’s amazing throughout

Overall: This hotel had some definite positives and a few drawbacks to consider. Positives: * Friendly Staff: The staff at this hotel were all very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. * Great Food: I enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food was tasty and well-prepared. Room for Improvement: Room 307. * Bedrooms: The bedrooms were a bit average overall. While clean, they lacked some of the comforts I would have liked. * Bathroom Issues: There was no fan in the bathroom, which could be an issue for some guests. Additionally, the hot bath tap was broken during my stay. * Noise: My room was located near the front of the hotel, and there was a lot of noise from people congregating in the area at night. Would I recommend? This depends. If friendly staff, good food, and a central location are most important, then this hotel could be a good option, especially if you can request a room at the back of the hotel for a quieter stay. However, if you are looking for a luxurious or particularly quiet hotel experience, you might want to consider elsewhere.

Just back from a two night stay at The Ashdown Hotel in Gorey, Co.Wexford. Can't speak highly enough of it; accommodation immaculately clean and comfortable, close walking distance to Gorey Town with its variety of shops. The highlight for us was the quality of the food in the hotel; breakfasts were delicious and featured local produce, the Thursday Tapas in the restaurant was sumptuous and was enough for us yo intend returning. Final word about the staff who were friendly and welcoming, with particular mention needed for Katie in the restaurant. A resounding success.

Absolutely shocking! I cannot believe this is a 4 Star Hotel. The room was so close to the road and trains passing that it was impossible to sleep. The downstairs restaurant was closed so the upstairs was catering. Customers were screaming at staff who told them that it was a temporary kitchen situation that wasn't set up for dinner. The morning after I had something drop on my head in the shower and it was pieces of plasterboard. It was obviously coming apart from steam of the shower and hadn't been repaired. I called the reception and got the night porter who was quite rude and told me I'd have to go down to reception as they had forgotten to undivert the phone. The hotel room just lacks simple things. No PowerPoint at my side of the bed. Vanity nowhere near plugs to use hairdryer. Just an utterly terrible night in this place. I rarely review but honestly, I just couldn't believe how poor it was. Reception just said sorry I'll talk to maintenance. I would never stay here again.

Excellent hotel. Receptionist very friendly & helpful on arrival. Bedroom lovely, spotless clean. Beautiful dinner & excellent staff in the Rowan Restaurant. Staff very friendly & genuinely interested in exchanging a bit of conversation. Felt there was a really nice atmosphere amongst the staff. Nice quality breakfast too - the orange butter with sea salt is fabulous! Give it a try! Found the corridors in the bedroom area very stuffy but minor detail & it was a warm day. I’m sure if the velux windows were open it would bring in a nice bit of air & sort it. Would be very happy to return and thank you for a pleasant stay 😊

Overall a very nice hotel but..I stayed in Room 103 - Ground floor close to reception. People gathered outside my window talking and smoking till late at night and from early in the morning. Yes I asked the receptionist to look into it, same result the next morning. The manager rang me a couple of days later to discuss and give his apologies, they will work at trying to sort out. I am a non smoker and a light sleeper. Would I stay in this hotel again, absolutely, but not in or around Room 103. Larry Murtagh

AMAZING staff - each and every one of them from reception to the bar, to the restaurant, to the spa. Genuinely nice, helpful, good humoured, friendly people and you can see how well they all get on with each other. It made all the difference in the world and was a total pleasure. What an asset they are to the management team! Ordinarily I don't like hotel food but this was the exception as it was very good. Service was very good, rooms are lovely, lots of space throughout the hotel so you don't feel like you are crowded at all. Go raibh maith agat - thank you.

Stayed for one night with my partner and two kids, room was spacious and clean, check in staff were friendly and very informative. Can't think of the ladies name at Reception (pregnant ladie) but she had remembered us from a stay back in December which was a welcoming suprise, its the little things like that which make staying in hotels with family more memorable. We had a package deal which including dinner and breakfast, the dinner was delicious we had a three course meal , every bite was as nice as the last. Waiting staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was the same, good food and friendly staff. We also received a family pass to kia ora farm which was a nice bonus added to our stay, over all I would recommend this hotel for a family trip, food is lovely, staff are friendly. Great value for money.

Nice hotel and good location. Lots of parking. Rooms was spacious but extremely warm. Food was good but service was slow, possibly understaffed. Car park was noisy at night with people leaving the bar so if you’ve got kids or are a light sleeper, ask for a room that’s not overlooking the car park on a weekend
