Best Western the Hatfield Hotel

Great service

Only ate in the restaurant as reccomended by a member of our party based on previous experience. Wwll we wished we hadn't bothered. Food was poor, chips hard as if undercooked, garden peas titally devoid of taste and chicken on the Gyro wraps was burnt and nearly uneatable. Had to go on a staff hunt to find someone when we wanted to pay. We didnt bother complaining as staff struggled with taking an order, not sure how they would have coped with a complaint. My advice is avoid, avoid and avoid.

As per photo, bath plug had what looked like toe nails in which put us off showering as clearly hadn't been cleaned. Room stunk of mouldy milk and bed was awful as springs had gone and was sloping badly. Not a good experience. Restaurant looked nice but wouldn't try due to the condition of room

We were in Lowestoft with a view to possibly moving here in a couple of years. Sunday afternoon possibly the worst time to visit. Dirty tables needing cleared, nobody really in charge, order at the bar, it feels a little lacking. Our food was OK. Hot and spicy prawns yum, squid over cooked, £2.50 for a squirm of blue cheese dressing!

Nice hotel, reasonable price, excellent location. However, have marked down as our room was very very hot. We had to leave the door open to have air flow through the room made very little difference, also had 2 fans blowing during the night, bad nights sleep for all, felt terrible, sick feeling in the morning, over heated. Terrible Hotel staff had no sympathy when I checked out. Would suggest not getting a sea view room in the future

We visit every year and this year did not disappoint. We received outstanding service from Joe, Steven and Jade, even Caven on work experience. I would recommend this hotel and the location is excellent. The first night we had disturbed sleep due to ill behaving other residents but the hotel sorted it and gave us a new room and helped with our baggage. I will book again for next year.

Always stay there when visiting Lowestoft. Food excellent.Views from dining room amazing.Staff very pleasant and helpful. Beds comfortable. Cakes so good had to take home with me. Lovely central position for the beach and visiting the town.

Arrived early and waited on the terrace- which is absolutely glorious in the glorious Sunshine until our rooms were ready. I was with an elderly relative so had requested an accessible room fir them. We were given 2 adjoining rooms on the 1st floor. Both rooms were lively. One was a twin room so the 2 beds had been joined to form a huge bed. The other was a standard Double. Both immaculately clean. I had requested sea dancing rooms. My room looked out over tge top of an extension so whilst I could see the sea it was not what I had envisioned. My Mother's view was across the apex of the refurbished extension so mainly was seagull poop and a roof! The facilities in the Hotel are good. There is a lift. However, the access to the restararant/breakfast area is definately not disability friendly with a set of about 5/6 stairs to reach the dining area and then a step down again midway into a slightly lower level with no signage so could be a hazard. Breakfast is absolutely amazing! Definately to be recommended! Evening meals varied- the fish and chips we had on our first night were unbelievable. The following night's meal was mediocre at gest so assumed a different chef. The major issue was noise! Well that and the complete nonchalant response I received when I complained. From early hours of the morning I and my Mother were woken by the night staff vacuuming, moving furnishing and generally being inconsiderate to the guests in the rooms above the bar area. I spoke to the receptionist each time and then to the Assistant Manager. Each time I was fobbed off with "oh Sorry. We will talk to the night staff so it does not happen again" Yet the next time it did - and to date I have had zero communication from the hotel. SO - would I stay again- absolutely! Would I recommend the Hotel - Definately. Just do not stay in rooms 102 or 103 or you definately will have interrupted sleep and the sea view are minimal

Lovely location, good breakfast, lovely ouside seating area overlooking the beach. a joy to stay there.
