My wife and I stayed in room 155 - a good sized en suite with comfortable double bed and outstanding balcony views The hotel fronts onto the beautiful Adriatic sea with the stunning National Park behind - a must visit location with access paid for by the hotel However, what makes this hotel standout are the superb staff every single member - from the moment you arrive the reception staff are both very helpful and knowledgeable - just ask! The kitchen 'Ladies' prepare excellent and varied food - all the restaurant and bar are friendly and helpful and finally the cleaning staff are most efficient I can honestly say we have never stayed anywhere in the world in a better run hotel Finally to assist our departure time the hotel allowed us to use their own boat to the mainland - skippered by Captain Hari (many thanks for the long conversation) also arranged a chauffeur driven car to the airport (thank you Antonio) Nearly forgot, prior we had never drank Croatian wines - the restaurant staff gave helpful suggestions and the wines both red and white were excellent - recommend Popis a lovely crisp white

Only booked trip because it was a Tui package, good price and on paper good value, how wrong can you be!!!! Yes I booked it and I only have myself to blame for not doing my research, had a great flight and put on our transport to the hotel….i did ask the rep how long it would take and she said 25 minutes…LMAO…..please be aware it’s gonna take you at least an hour, depending on drop offs, and that’s only to the car ferry, you then have to wait to load the ferry and departure time, then it’s another hour, it’s then another 45 min drive to the hotel, so do your research which obviously I didn’t, now to the hotel, very very dated, shower is way to small and the toilet is horrendous, without being to Graphic you don’t won’t to see your number 2 looking at you lol, loads of beetles crawling around, rooms are cleaned or should I say beds are made, hotel food is average but enough to not give it a negative, the prices are very dear as they have a monopoly as there’s no competition, you end up moving your own plates eventually as staff walk by and not the most friendliest I’ve had, while we were waiting for the staff to jet wash the sea area lounges we got 2 cappuccinos while we waited, I took them back to our table only to find out they were cold, I took them back and pointed it out they were old he rudely said you seen me pour the hot milk, I said I didn’t and try yourself again I got the same answer so I said just leave it, and didn’t buy anything from them since, now the nations park, yes it’s beautiful if you can manage the hills and if your brave some serious bad paths, so 100% not suitable for elderly people, this island is so bad to me and my son were checking out 2 days early which I’ve never done before and spending our last 2 days in Dubrovnik….by the way if you want a day trip to Dubrovnik it will cost you €40 return, only trouble with that is ferry leaves at 11.10 and gets there at 1230….and last one is 1500 so 150 minutes lmao….joke…….afford this island at all costs unless it’s a quick stop!!!

This place is inspirational. So...Ouch! some of the recent reviews of this amazing hotel have REALLY missed the point.Do not travel to Mljet if you want an urbanised holiday where you judge your experience by the false marble on your bathroom wall, the organised group activities, or the nouvelle cuisine on your porcelein plate . What you will find in Mljet, around Hotel Odisej, is a beautiful national park, full of space, where the volunteer Croatian workers inspire you with their commi**ent to environmental issues and their fellow human beings. Pomena is a delightful hamlet where everyone lights up when they talk to you. The locals exude kindness and reveal both wisdom and enthusiasm when discussing the challenges a small maritime community faces in a modern Europe. In the hotel itself, somehow the staff make you feel they REALLY care about you; from the ladies who service the rooms to the waiting staff who are always ready to help or advise you about the complexities of Croatian wines! Management are ever present, leading by example and helping out wherever needed, even clearing our plates! The food was really good; often I felt sad that fellow clients were too cautious, missing out on dishes like the cuttlefish ink risotto or the grilled sea bass.I just went every evening for a self made caesar salad or greek salad topped with whichever roast (such as veal) or fish ( such as grilled tuna) that was on offer. Hard to beat. You just had to see that everything was there, not in defined, pretentious salad bars or fish bars, but just as it all came out of the kitchen. The island , its lakes and its hills are delightful; we spent 10 days walking the trails and hills, 25000 steps a day and never ceasing to be awestruck by the natural beauty. We saw so many butterflies, mongoose , bee orchids, grass snakes, eagles and a sunset pod of dolphins. The hotel reception was exceptionally efficient: when we lost our i phone charger, Nicika the delightful, superstar problem solver magically conjured up one from nowhere with her awesome smile! Thank you. For our return transfer, which ran like clockwork, there was a packed lunch for our journey even though we left at 05.00. So for the traveller this is a paradise hotel on a paradise island where you can meet the most delightful, kind Dalmatian people. Thank you hotel Odisej.

Where do I start? The Hotel is very tired and in need of lots of TLC. It’s the little things that let it down. The bathrooms are really old and in need of updating, the ceiling is slats and all the wiring is visible above. The shower cubicle was old too. Cleanliness, fortunately, I couldn’t fault, everything was clean, which is a must as far as I’m concerned. Our first room was really small, but receptionist changed it for us for a larger one which was much better. Little things like the shower gel hanging off in the shower, the old shower head was too low and wouldn’t stay on it’s holder, the hot water was tepid at times, stuff like that. The buffet food in the restaurant, both breakfast and dinner, was very good, no complaints there, but they could have cleaned the windows to the terrace which were very dirty, which is a shame, such a simple thing to fix. The staff were generally really nice , but there weren’t enough of them, so getting served with a drink at dinner sometimes was torture. The bed was super large and super comfy and we slept like babies every night, defo no complaints there. The location is to die for, it’s soooo beautiful and peaceful, we actually loved it here. Things worked in the Hotel rooms, but only just, it sounds like I’m being picky, but it’s just a general tiredness about the whole place really, it’s not plush and it’s not luxury, it’s functional. For what I paid I cannot complain but just want to make you aware that it’s tired. If it was done up it would be a lot more expensive. Don’t expect to be able to swim easily here, the kids pool was empty and tired and there is nowhere to have a dip, the steps to the sea have been removed and so it’s difficult to get in and out, particularly for us oldies, so no swimming for me here whatsoever, not even a paddle, which was a real let down for me. Would I come back, absolutely I would!

We stayed at the start of the holiday season, and had a wonderful time using the hotel as a base from which we could explore the Mljet National Park, one of the entrances of which was not far from Pomena. Our room, a deluxe sea view room with balcony, was very comfortable and clean. It was a tiny bit small, but otherwise perfect. The concierge staff were always helpful, and had an efficient check in system which minimised the queueing time. The breakfast selection was excellent - all the usual cooked English, continental and cold selections, all of high quality. Waiting staff were efficient at clearing the tables. We ate dinner once, and were very happy with the buffet selection, and especially impressed by the quality. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavour. The hotel has a beautiful seafront location, and had a great selection of restaurants nearby. Please note, the supermarket in Pomena is not open until later in the season. The ferry from Gruz (Dubrovnik) also lands nearby. We would highly recommend Hotel Odisej!

Heaven on earth! Place feels like home, staff feels like family. Perfect to reach by ferry from Dubrovnik. Wonders of the national park in walking distance. Buffet offers all you can wish for. We will be back! Thank you to the entire team for making this an unforgettable vacation:)

It was wonderful at the hotel. The rooms had a/c, it’s right on the beach and near so many places to eat. The staff are very helpful. My only issue would be the lack of elevator for luggage however the staff are more than willing to offer someone to help with the luggage. We carried our own and it was fine. Just something to note.

Idyllic is the word for this hotel. 1. Location is optimal. We walked off the ferry without reservations (Croatia was a late addition to a well planning Greek islands’ itinerary), The staff was superb and fair in offering us a room. It is a very short walk to the Mljet park entrance which made each day convenient logistically. 2. Breakfast and dinner buffets were wonderful; we felt like we were on a nice cruise with friendly company. The staff were friendly and competent. 3. The room with the harbor view exceeded our expectations. For us, the character of this historic hotel is preferable to a modern corporate or smaller boutique hotel. The bathroom was fine; no problems whatsoever. The weather, well I have to thank someone else for the excellent weather. 🙏 Thank you hotel staff for a wonderful treat !

Whilst this hotel appeared a bit dated, everything worked and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The sun terrace and sea pool were excellent. The breakfast offering was very good. It was close to lots of restaurants. There was easy access to the National Park.
