I didn't actually stay as planned. I contacted Orbitz two days beforehand and asked to ADD AN EXTRA DAY to my reservation and was informed that I could not due to it being a non-refundable booking. I told the agent I understood not being able to cancel, but not being able to add to my length of stay made no sense. He offered to contact the hotel on my behalf and I waited half an hour(!) before he came back and said Hampton was not willing to let me add a day. He asked if I wanted to cancel the reservation and I told him if I had to pay a penalty, I would just keep it and contact the hotel myself. Then he said there would be no penalty because the hotel had approved a complete refund. By this time I was rather peeved about the whole situation so I told him as long as it wasn't going to cost me, he could cancel it.
And even after he said it was canceled, I continued to receive text and email reminders. (And requests like this one to review my stay. It still remains to be seen if I will get my refund or not.) The real kicker is that I went back later and it showed the same room and dates I wanted as available for a slightly lower price!
