Sublime Comporta

A charming, no luxury, farm-style hotel. I stayed on the Terracotta side, which is the older section. Now there's a new section called Sands. The room is pleasant and stylish with a bathtub and outdoor area. The breakfast is well-served. The entire hotel has charming spaces such as a swimming pool, spa, gym, and restaurants. The Sands side has a heated pool. An excellent opportunity is to use the Sublime Beach Bar on Carvalhal beach for free, with an exclusive area for guests, but you need to go by car or the hotel's van. Best option in Comporta.

This was my first time in Comporta, and Sublime seemed like the best choice for us so we chose one of their two bedroom villas in the newly opened Sand side. First of all I would like to say that the property is absolutely gorgeous, inside a beautiful forest covered by pine trees. When the newly planted vegetation around villas grow it will be even better as right now there is no privacy and the pool area and rooms can be seen from anywhere. Also all their restaurants we went to were fantastic in both their properties and the Beach Club. The only think I would say would be that the sunbeds can be more comfortable like the Jncquoi Beach club but this is a minor thing. Overall I would stay here again just for the property and restaurants. The problem with the hotel is however the service. Before our arrival I wanted to make some restaurant reservations. Making reservations to three of their own restaurants, and one outside beach club took me almost two weeks. Because every email gets replied to in either 2 or 3 days. I am sorry but if you are charging top Maldives villa prices you need to do better. At the end we went there and they had some of the reservations mixed up, we corrected it with them and still got a phone call from the restaurant asking us where we are because they had not let the restaurant know. Calls to spa were unanswered, cleaning service was poor, my wife's birthday cake at the restaurant forgotten because reception did not inform them (restaurant was great and was quick to arrange something). And at the end they add an optional gratuity to the bill which is not normal for Portugal at all, and the gratuity is added on the total bill which already includes all gratuities you paid at the restaurants etc. At the end I treated this hotel like an Airbnb within an amazing property and a very nice 2 bedroom villa, surrounded by great restaurants, because although everyone smiles the service is nowhere near the hotels they want to be part of.

We stayed at Sublime Comporta as a family of five, and while the property itself is stunning, our experience was marred by repeated service failures that made it hard to enjoy. Despite organizing everything over a month in advance and consistently confirming a party of five in every email exchange, the hotel repeatedly mishandled our reservations. Our Circle dinner reservation was cancelled the day of, with staff claiming only two spaces were available for a party of five. When we asked for an 8:30pm alternative at Canalha, we were offered a 9pm slot — the exact same availability already visible to us on SevenRooms. No real effort was made to find an actual solution. The beach club staff seemed to have received no training at all. They didn’t know whether reservations were required, offered no help arranging transport back to the hotel, and ignored repeated requests for service. My wife’s request for after-sun lotion was never followed up on. We also received a call at 12:30am — while already asleep — about returning a box of matches. Turn down service was not provided all nights. On top of this, we found a rat drinking from the pool while my children were swimming, which was alarming and, frankly, a health and safety concern that should never happen at a property of this caliber. Separately, dinner at Canalha was disrupted when we found a large hair in the fries served with the ribeye. To make matters worse, when we finished dinner at Canalha and asked for a cart to take us back to our room, we were told we needed to have booked transportation in advance — something no one had informed us of beforehand. This was yet another example of basic information simply never being communicated to guests. This is a beautiful hotel with real potential, but guest services, staff training, and basic food and pool hygiene need urgent attention.

Amazing experience. We stayed in bio pool room. Overall we loved the hotel. The room is large and very comfortable. A bit dark in the evening. The bed is very comfortable and service is great. Pool is beautodu. Breakfast is fantastic. Staff is wonderful, warm and welcoming. We’d definitely come back.

I treated my mom to this stay in the spa suite for her 60th birthday and while the property was exquisite, the service was horrific. The service was consistently a 3.5 at best. I had to follow up to get anyone to do their jobs. I run a business and it felt like I was managing my own team. I know a lot of the staff was new because the veterans moved over to the sand side of the resort which had just opened. This made our service suffer which is unacceptable. I addressed my concerns and they attempted to rectify but all in all it didn’t fix the consistently horrific service. Ultimately I paid the price for a 5 star luxury experience and had a 3.5 star at best. If you want 5 star service skip this one.

To quote rocky from project hail mary this place is amaze amaze amaze! We spent a week there in april as a family of 4. Rooms and food were amazing and we really appreciated the activities they had for the kids (s'mores were a particular hit), the gym and tennis on site (coaches are wonderful) as well as the surrounding beauty of Comporta and the Alentejo. We'll be back!

The combination of relaxed luxury and natural beauty is just perfect. The landscaping is stunning every detail feels thoughtful, blending seamlessly with the pine forests and sandy surroundings. It’s a place that instantly calms you down. We loved spending time at the padel courts they’re beautifully maintained and a great way to stay active while on holiday. The beach club is another highlight: laid-back yet elegant, with crystal-clear water, great food, and that signature Comporta vibe. What really stood out, though, was the genuine, friendly service. Every staff member we met was warm and attentive without ever being over the top — it felt truly authentic. Perfect for families looking to unwind, reconnect, and enjoy nature in understated luxury. We’ll definitely be back!

We spent a few days at Sublime Comporta and fell in love with this part of Portugal — peaceful, authentic, and surrounded by nature. We played padel, enjoyed a wonderful spa treatment, and spent afternoons at the beach club, perfect for long lunches and sunsets. The team couldn’t have been friendlier — always happy to help with anything we needed. Everything feels calm and relaxed, yet perfectly taken care of. We left completely recharged — it really is a sublime place to enjoy time together.
