Was treated to afternoon tea by a friend. She had a voucher. Very good waiting staff but under whelming food. Got 4 sandwiches the size of a fish finger, cheap bread and some very small savoury bites. I only had 3 as I hate smoked salmon and if we had been veggie’s or vegan there was no other choice offered. Plenty of cakes followed but the scones were very dry. Others were really nice but would’ve preferred more savoury choices and less sweet

The best afternoon tea experience bar none. Superb food, outstanding service, magnificent surroundings. Makes Betty's seem extremely ordinary. The cakes are a work of art. Not cheap but worth every penny. Highly recommended for a special treat

This is a follow up to my initial impression/review on check in. The check in process clearly glitched the day we arrived but the staff were very apologetic and sincere. Now after staying for four full nights I must advise everyone that Grantley Hall is absolutely wonderful!! The grounds are pristine; the restaurants ((Fletchers, 88 and the Orchard) were fabulous and the spa/gym are to die for!! The entertainment at the nightclub on Friday and Saturday nights was such fun. But what stands out the most is the staff at Grantley. We interacted with such great professional staff members and were treated so nicely throughout our stay. Special thanks to Nickolai from guest services who went out of his way to drive us to and from nearby Ripon. He was outstanding. Grantley Hall is on our list to return to asap

We paid c1200 for a 2 night stay, not including food and drinks . First thoughts are the staff were very polite and attentive and the hotel is clearly relatively new. The pool area is very small and on the first day appeared cramped as guests were unable to relax outside due to the weather. However the facilities including a snow room and saunas were excellent The restaurant food was good. Although for the cost we should have expected better, the chicken in the chicken bowl for lunch was cubed, dry and less than a full breast. We also had a meal in Shaun Rankin. Again nice but when at a Michelin starred restaurant, value for money still matters. Our room was nice and this is perhaps an odd observation... The plaster work is awful. Who funds renovations for 70 million and allows this to pass. The worse area being around the window. The bathroom is really nicely laid out with bulgari soaps etc.. but the mould and dirt along the drainage trough is revolting. The free snacks and half bottle of welcome fizz is as anticipated for a room priced as such. The bed was too hard. The grounds are lovely with spectacular trees but again the beds are not maintained to the highest level and the paths are weedy with the stones blighting the borders. The extensive water feature is empty and corroding. We went to Valarias for drinks and had a double rum and coke and a double G&T... 38 quid .... So ... We definitely wouldn't go back. We don't mind splashing the cash but it has to be worth it

Looking forward to our 4 night stay with family celebrating our daughter’s post graduate degree from Uni. Hopefully the remaining days and nights will be better than first impressions. Spent over 2 1/2 hours just waiting around for even one of our two suites to be ready—despite false promises as to time for room readiness. Lobby and lounge just noisy as people wait around for staff to alert them when rooms finally available. Had hoped to use the spa before dinner, but not possible with delays in room readiness. Not a five star experience as it feels like the check in process for busy London tourist hotel. Hopefully the 5 star experience begins later

We stayed here for a short break in March. While the weather wasn't especially kind to us Grantly Hall was lovely. Spent time in the spa, ate at Shaun Rankin which was an experience with fabulouse wine and service, maybe just enjoyed 88 a little more. Fletcher not quite the same standard but still OK. While you could probably have a week in the dun in a decent hotel for the money it's worth doing if only the once.

I never leave reviews, and not often am I lost for words, only one I can use……….perfection. From start to finish the service was amazing, food delicious. The staff incredible, the grounds beautiful ( even in typical English rainy weather) a pure delight to visit, and made my mums special birthday one she will remember.

Absolutely amazing afternoon tea. Our daughter and son in law travelled from the south to use an anniversary gift voucher for afternoon tea. We arranged to surprise them and the staff were well aware and were happy to help us carry out this surprise. Everything was perfect in every way and the staff very knowledgeable about the food and the choices of tea. Faultless. We have had afternoon tea at the Ritz in London and Reeds in Madeira and Grantley is far far superior. Thank you so much . We will be back

Ate in restaurant 88 last month with my girlfriend and it was incredible , the staff were incredibly friendly to us and very helpful. We came in quite late so it wasn't overly busy but the atmosphere was lovely anyways. Thanks for a great time!
