The Pug & Greyhound

Pros: The bar staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. The roll top bath looked nice but was totally out of place compared to the rest of the room. Cons: Room 2 - dirty unhoovered carpet. Dressing table old and water stained. Mouldy ceiling and walls around shower, with paint flaking off, that was also leaking into the bedroom. Bedroom skirting board was mould and the carpet alongside the bed sodden wet so the bed had to be accessed from the bottom end. Nothing cleaned apart from fresh bedding. No coffee in room. Room 6 - the ‘deluxe’ room - dirty room not cleaned at all apart from the bedding. Carpet looked like it had never been cleaned or hoovered. Had to wear shoes when moving around as didn’t want to walk on it barefoot. Raspberries in the bathroom sink!?! Toothpaste marks and scum all over the bathroom sink. Flaky paint all around shower cubicle. Dirty floor and skirting boards. Main plug socket behind bed was smashed and held on the wall with tape so bedside lights didn’t work. Watermarked dressing table. It had a coffee maker but no coffee, tea or milk, just sugar and sweetener. Dirty fridge. Dirty towel left on the back of the bathroom door by previous occupants. Despite serving meals in the day, no cooked breakfast, just a breakfast box that had been left outside the room, outdoors, exposed to the elements when we got back to the room from an event at around 11.30pm. We’ve never been in such a hurry to leave a place and get home to have a good scrub as felt so unclean. Sent from my iPhone

Stayed for two nights. Room was huge, massive wardrobe, large bathroom, bathtub in the room. Also a trendy Smeg fridge. Pros Bedroom was huge Massive and comfy bed Big TV Lots of space and storage Fridge Large bathroom Fan provided Big free car park Lovely location Staff were very friendly and helpful Cons Wifi was unusable Shower was too small and could easily be bigger as the bathroom is large Rooms did get stuffy - aircon units should be fitted

Weve just been there for lunch what a great place people and managemwnt .its under new management. We have been to many local italians and would say this is on a par with casa romama and cini. The reviews are very historic. Great value

Travelling up to Great Glen for a wedding nearby, we were recommended the P&G by the wedding venue and were sadly disappointed (Room 2). At £80 per you expect certain things to be done better than would be in say a Travelodge. The bathroom was in a very poor state, radiator temporarily fixed to the wall, missing paint on the walls through the shower leaking, black mould around the shower cubicle, toilet not completely fixed to the floor and quite possibly the worst tiling job I have ever seen in my life around a shower. The bedroom was well cleaned, well appointed and comfortable though our double bed was (2) singles pushed together, this suited us. Again, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful which is why I did not complain at the time. Great staff go a long way to making something acceptable. Finally, we were surprised that, during the week, breakfast comes in a tray and is not freshly served in the restaurant. The first day was dry enough to eat in the garden but day-2 was wet and we had to 'make do' feeding a 3-year old in the bedroom. To sum up, the bathroom was clean but needs quite a bit of work, bedroom is great, but the staff were excellent.
