De Rougemont Manor

We really looked forward to our recent stay at this former French owned Manor House, but things started to wrong on our arrival when there was obviously a problem with a lady who, it transpired, had booked a suite many months ago only to find that it had been let out recently to another family. On arrival in our adequate room we thought that we would have a up of coffee, had to use tap water and found that the milk in the small cartons was off, after tasting said coffee. The biscuits on offer were mediocre at best. In the en-suite the sink was somewhat blocked which we reported twice and it was impossible to turn the water on in the bath/shower without getting in to the bath. The evening meal that we had off the bar menu was very disappointing. The curry we were told was a chicken curry but was like coloured water with bits of chicken in. We asked the waiter to ask the chef what this was supposed to be! This was replaced with an acceptable version of a chicken curry. The other dish we had was a very mediocre lasagne. The large queen size bed we found to be very comfortable. In the morning we were quite surprised when using the lift to find unaccompanied bed linen and towels which we had to share the lift with. The breakfast was again a disappointment with the beans, sausage, hash browns and mushrooms and the scrambled egg being less than appetising. Bacon and fried egg was ok. All in all our visit showed a lack of management on most levels.

Tired, room in need of modernisation. Room and bathroom cold despite radiator turned to max. Mattress old and saggy, very poor sleep

If you like staying in a hotel where you can hold a massive party in your room, take *****, play loud music and ignore the fact other guests may not be interested in hearing your shouting and music then this is the hotel for you. If however you prefer not to need to leave your room and go home instead then don’t book this hotel as the hotel said there’s nothing they can do about inconsiderate guests

Shocking treatment of my friend on her pre-wedding night. Completely let down the palms the family and bridesmaids had made for the day.

This is my favourite place to stay when working away. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the food is great, it is very clean and tidy. The place has a lovely feel and as a female solo guest, I feel very safe in their hands and always get a perfect nights sleep. I have recommend this venue to a number of my colleagues as a great place to stay.

Always good with great service- marvellous location too and big car park. Staff always friendly and helpful. It’s a shame that there is still the uncertainty that it will be closed sometime next year to be developed for housing as what is probably the best quality local hotel will be lost to the hospitality industry

You will not find better hospitality. Sam and Rachel are the most welcoming, friendly and engaging people you will meet. They have an employee of the month scheme and they both should win. A lovely hotel that is most charming because of its people

Visit hotel for afternoon tea for my moms 80th birthday 07/04/24 Sophie our waitress was excellent she look after us,check on us and couldn't do enough to make the afternoon one to remember, sian made sure to visit us and wish my mom happy birthday and got a glass of bubbly for her.Table was set so nicely and a simple touch of a hand written card made her day Thank you to everyone involved will definitely be recommending your hotel to everyone
