El Silencio Lodge & Spa Costa Rica

My family and I (4 adults and 2 children) just came back from our 4 night stay at El Silencio. It was a truly wonderful stay. The property is absolutely beautiful, clean and well maintained. There is an overall peaceful and magical feeling, from the mountains, rivers and lush landscape. The service is superior to any I have ever experienced, having stayed at numerous 5 start resorts. Every single person was exceptionally kind, professional and helpful. No request was ever met with any hesitation or annoyance. Shout out to Luis, who made our dining experience so warm and enjoyable! Just a truly lovely person. And speaking of, the food is top notch. Fresh, great variety and lovely presentation. The only negative was that we had booked a 3 bedroom villa, and when we arrived it was not available, and we were not told in advance, which was a little frustrating and disappointing. However, it was handled in a professional and appropriate manner and we were pleased. Instead, we stayed in a 2 bedroom riverside villa, which was stunning. The spaciousness, layout, amenities, decor and cleanliness were excellent. Overall, a vacation to remember! Highly recommend!

Lovely and spacious villas and rooms (though it’s time for a decor update) - riverside villas are especially nice. Fine restaurant with excellent service - lamb rack with gran padano ravioli a particular hit. Pretty, laid-back open-air spa with a well-trained team. Notably high quality personal service. Very pleasant horseback ride on the property- the horses are smaller Costa Rica’s breeds. Once you arrive, no need to leave - but there are some nice attractions nearby for pre- or post-visit. Concerned to hear that the owner may have expansion plans - we recommend that you enjoy it now while it is low-key and very comfortably sized.

WHAT A MAGICAL PLACE! It is in a very secluded area of Bajos del Toro. My husband loves driving in foreign countries, so we drove up there ourselves which was the beginning of the adventure up the mountain. It is truly a "Cloud Forest" eerie at times but without a doubt beautiful! We were stunned by the beauty of the grounds once we drove in. We were greeted with a wonderful Costa Rican drink, cookies and a warm washcloth by the fireplace. The resort are upscale cabins with a private hot tub. We were driven up by do-it-all Julio. Julio always seems to be available to help with: luggage, umbrellas, golf cart drive up to your room after dinner because of the downpour of rain. He is a very hardworking, personable and genuinely kind employee. We hope he gets recognized for his efforts. La Ventana restaurant, wow! It's been awhile since I have had such flavorful food! The octopus in a MUST have! Thank you to Luis and Alejandra for making our dining experience so memorable there. Take the tour to the Del Toro waterfall (it's worth the 400 steep steps down). If you get Jean Carlos it will make the experience even better. He is so knowldgeable about the environment, botany and local wildlife. Kenneth, thank you for accommodating our archery lesson in the rain. It was so much fun and very memorable. Lastly, I would like to recognize Efrien the yoga instructor. I have always wanted to practice yoga in Costa Rica. We practiced out in the balcony where we looked out to the breathtaking cloud forest, while listening to the stream and birds chirping. Thank you for the sound bath and for the truly spiritual experience. You are a beautiful soul! I was truly saddened to leave here and would highly recommend it if you are looking to get off the grid!

El Silencio was a magical place, and the perfect retreat for a few days of rest and relaxation in nature.

The resort sits on a beautiful property in the cloud forest. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food and drinks were amazing. We loved the hummingbird garden and hiking to the waterfalls. Highly recommend this little hidden gem!

El Silencio lived up to its reputation, I was very calming, and very beautiful. The staff was amazing and everyone was incredibly nice. Pura Vida.

The accommodations, people, service, adventures were all top notch and beyond our expectations. We had an absolutely magical time at El Silencio. So much attention to detail, staff kindness and attentiveness, gorgeous appointments.
