Royal Park Lodge

Was handy to Mt Smart stadium for a concert we were attending. Nothing flash but clean and comfortable for what we required

We stayed here in March 2024. The motel is well located on a main road just off the motorway, so relatively easy to get into central Auckland or southwards. There are several restaurants a few minutes' walk up the road, and a supermarket (Countdown) and McDonalds in the other direction. Overall, the motel was ok but nothing special. Our room faced south and there was little light or sun into the main room. The bathroom got all the light. I recommend that you ask for a north-facing unit. The wifi signal was not very stable, which was quite irritating. The amenities were sufficient but basic. Next time I would probably pay more to stay somewhere more comfortable.

Property was undergoing refurbishment, but we were informed of that and it didn't effect a weekend stay. Positives: Friendly check in. Great location for where we needed to be. Water pressure in the shower was excellent. Clean and tidy room. Sky tv and wifi in the room. Road noise/motel noise wasn't too bad. Air con was great, and easy to use. Things needing improvement: The bathroom had no extractor fan, but did have a window near the shower you could open. I felt like people could possibly see in. The tiling on the shower/bathroom floor became very slippery once you had a shower. Beds were not the best I've slept on, but were adequate. There is refurbishments going on in the downstairs units so it may be that the upper units are still to be done. Overall it was fine for a budget friendly night away with kids.

It's renovating the while first floor lodge. All travellers, no matter how old you are, ust live at the 2nd floor rooms. But this lodge should mention this serious weakness clearly online, otherwise elder travellers have burden to climb up and move heavy luggage. Besides, no elder freindly suport facility in the bathroom. There is no tissue paper, only providing toilet paper instead. Tea tray provides low quality twa bags and maybe over the deadline, after pouring hot water there's not clear funny thing at the buttom. However, it is at the convenient place in Auckland coty with free car parking.

Very comfy, quiet and clean. Shops were close by and parking was included in the price. Thankful to the staff for allowing a last minute change to add my granddaughter in the same room with us. Enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again when we are back in Auckland. Thanks team.

The Royal Park is undergoing a major refit, currently leaving only the upstairs rooms available. This Mitel is in the average range. Not flash, not scruffy, but in the current state, it was a bit the latter. We had a serious medical situation arise with one of our friends while we were there, and the magic of Royal Park is the management and the caring serve they provided. Can't speak highly enough of them, their flexibility, and general friendliness. Don't go expecting luxury, but if you want a place to sleep, clean and spacious, and to be looked after in a handy location, I'd suggest supporting their efforts to get back to being more of the upscale motel range.
