Stafford House Guest House

Stafford House is a hidden gem situated in the extensive grounds of Greystoke Castle. It is the result of an extensive renovation by superb hosts Hazel and Ian. We slept in to top floor apartment with its own genuine four poster bed. The apartment had everything you could need....and then some !. Lovely views of the native wildlife from there including wonderful red squirrels. Food was plentiful and delicious and hosts were very interesting to talk to. Although Stafford House doesn't provide evening meals, an excellent pub serving great food and drinks is literally 4 minutes stroll away. Outside top apartment is a large lounge with its own library. We hope to return again as our stay has been so good.

Wonderful place to stay, with wonderful hosts. Hazel and Ian couldn’t have been nicer. I feel very lucky to be staying here, and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. I’ll be sad to leave, but excited to come back. Went for a nice walk, checked out the castle, had a swift drink in the pub, it’s been perfect. Thanks again, you made me feel very welcome!

This has to be one of the loveliest b&bs we've ever stayed in. From the piles of warm fluffy towels and bathrobes to the fresh fruit and flowers, we felt pampered from the moment we arrived. Our twin room was bigger than we had expected, and was well stocked with hot drink supplies, biscuits, bottles of water, etc. Breakfast options were numerous. We tried various offerings during our stay, and everything was excellent. We loved our stay here, and will definitely return.

just got back from another amazing trip to the lake district stopping at Stafford house lodge, just me and my 2 dogs this is the second time stopping there Hazel and Ian are lovely hosts and the lodges are superb. everything you could ask and more will be definitely back again soon.

A lovely period building in beautiful surroundings. The comfiest bed ever.... Hazel really goes the extra mile to make sure you are comfy and have all the extras for a comfortable stay. Great food in the local pub which is only a short walk from the gardens. I was there on a business trip, would like to stay longer and explore the local castle and countryside. I can't forget to mention the fantastic breakfast, great setup for the day!

Stafford House proved to be a great place to stay for a few days visiting one of our children nearby. A really warm welcome from Hazel, everything we could need provided in the room, amazing breakfasts, room/bathroom perfectly clean. We can wholeheartedly recommend Stafford House, and we would happily stay here again in the future.

I had previously stayed in one of the lodges a few years ago and had a lovely time but this time my partner and I stayed in the luxurious four poster room. The room is just gorgeous with fantastic attention to detail and great facilities. Hazel and Ian were just as friendly as I remembered with a real focus on excellent customer service. The room was very comfortable indeed and the breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. I can also recommend dinner at the local pub - the Boot and Shoe - a 5 minute walk away - we had a lovely meal there with very friendly service. We had such a great time, I have already booked to come back in the Summer. Thanks so much Hazel and Ian!
