We stayed here as a family for the old man's 60th and all I can say is WOW. Everything about this hotel is perfect. The staff are so professional, friendly, and laid back, the rooms were stunning and spotlessly clean, and the breakfast was brilliant. The lounge area was great with a help yourself bar. Throughout the stay one really had the sort of feeling that they were in a wellness retreat or something. It was so relaxed and everywhere you looked had a nice view. Even the view of the geothermal plant was interesting to look at. I think check-in perfectly summed up attitude of the hotel. We were paying for the rooms all together but there was some issue with the payment system. Now most hotels would have to sort this before allowing you in the rooms, stating all of their policies and what have you. But no, not here. We all stood there worried and a bit like, "oh God, what now then?" But in the next breath the lovely receptionist just waved her hand and with a warm smile said, "it's no problem, we'll check you in and we can worry about that later." We had dinner there one night and it was delicious. Really well cooked and presented and the service was second to none. Thank you to everyone at the Northern Light Inn and hope come through what's going on at the moment.

I received a very friendly welcome, including finding me a room that was ready as the one I was assigned into wasn't yet - I had arrived early. The hotel felt very cosy and a place that guests could feel at home, which although fairly utilitarian in design structure, had lots of nice touches like the honesty bar, the chesterfields in a side room, etc. The bed was comfy and the room was very spacious. The staff at dinner were lovely. And the wake up call was great - I finally saw the lights on the last night of my trip. The only thing I really don't like is the price.... I understand that in general Iceland is expensive and I can appreciate that this rate is still competitive when compared to the ridiculous cost of staying at the Silica and Retreat hotels which are the nearest neighbours. However, in any other city anywhere else in the world, the Northern Lights Inn would be a very strong 3* establishment, and is of a kind that should never warrant £270 per night. Even £150 per night would be the top end for this type of hotel. But, if your neighbours are charging and people are paying, then you would be silly not to. I just think the prices around the Blue Lagoon are generally excessive and exploitative.

My wife and I stayed at the Northern Light Inn for one night for our honeymoon, and our only regret is not being able to stay for more time! The food and drinks at Max's Restaurant (at the hotel) are incredible. We had the fish of the day and lamb fillet, which were complimented by the wonderful cocktail selection. The common areas are very cozy with plenty of room to lounge around the fireplace, play some chess, or enjoy a relaxing read. The sauna experience was amazing, although we did not get to try out the massages since you have to book those in advance. The hotel staff are incredibly kind and welcoming. In particular, we had a lovely time chatting with Frederik, who took us to and from the nearby Blue Lagoon. As for the Northern Lights, they unfortunately did not make an appearance. However, we had such an incredible experience at the hotel that it did not negatively affect our stay. I can imagine that the aurora, when they are active, are a true spectacle at the Northern Light Inn. My wife and I cannot wait to return to Iceland and book another stay here!

Amazing stay at the hotel. The staff were brilliant and nothing was too difficult. Incredibly friendly. Shuttle to the blue lagoon was really good. The night porter was great and helped us look for the Northern Lights. Would definitely recommend.

NLI is such a comfortable hotel close to KEF and the Blue Lagoon. We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of February. The staff is really nice and friendly. The room with the honor bar is super cozy and inviting with large comfortable chairs and sofas, and a fire place. We will definitely stay here again if we make it back to Iceland.

Wonderful hotel, staff are excellent. I was really upset when we were evacuated on the 8th of February due to the near by volcano eruption but the staff were so caring and reassuring. We were evacuated very quickly and calmly. It was such a shame we didn't have the opportunity to stay longer at this fabulous location. I hope this Wonderful place is safe and able to open soon.

Very impressed. I was expecting a typical small town hotel with older fixtures, and a musky smell, but this place was nice. I could tell whoever owns and operates this hotel takes good care of it, and makes sure everyone who stays there is very happy about their visit.
