Resort located up in mountains, steep hill road. Excellent service and food.

Personnel at the restaurantes and bars will benefit from customer training!
Food was hit and miss.
The risotto had no flavor .
Breakfast is very good, personnel need to be more attentive to the customers, more than once we observed waitresses talking with each other in the restaurant

Loved all the wildlife on the property! The mud bath was fun! Great staff, we particularly enjoyed Armando the bar tender! We will be back!!

What a fabulous resort! We started our day riding horses up to the El Misterio waterfall and to the edge of Rincón de la Vieja volcano with breathtaking views of the Guanacaste coast. We then got to trade in the saddles for harnesses to soar through a series of 13 platforms, getting a bird's-eye view of a waterfall, wildlife and the beautiful jungle canopy way way below our feet! For an adrenaline junkie like me, the Borinquen Costa Rica canopy tour does not disappoint. You get to soar high across and through the tree tops for 1.5 km on the canopy zip lines that deliver the ride of a lifetime. Eder was one of our zip guides that recorded our runs with my phone. He and the other guides made this one of the best days ever that we will never forget! We also had an amazing lunch at the La Carreta Restaurant at the Borinquen Thermal Resort. Great service amd wonderful freshly prepared food. We then finished the day relaxing with a natural volcanic steam sauna, mudbath, and hot/cold plunges in the thermal pool springs. We absolutely loved the three nights we stayed here. The gravel mountain road up to the resort was an adventure but it was worth the hour drive from the airport. We did two different couples massages that were amazing. Enjoyed the hot springs and mud bath every day. Liked the pool and pool bar. Our tour guide for the forest hike to the waterfalls was great! Very personalized service and the staff was extremely friendly. The food at the bar & grill was excellent. Enjoyed the main restaurant too.

Rooms are spacious, grounds are beautiful! Our experience with the food was delicious too. Breakfast Buffett that is included you can’t beat. It is hard to get around with all the hills but a beautiful location for those that do not want to travel all the way to Arenal. We would have liked to stayed one more day so give yourself at least two days to enjoy full experience.

Lugar lleno de naturaleza. Hermosos árboles de Guanacastey y otras especies. Muchos pájaros, hermoso ver los nidos de oropéndolas y verlas volar. La pisicina es hermosa. El área de termales muy ordenada y muy relajante. Los restaurantes con comida variada y de buen sabor. Las habitaciones muy cómodas.

This resort exceeded our expectations. The grounds were beautiful and tranquil. We also enjoyed the activities offered on-site: zip-lining, horseback riding, and birding. You can see howler monkeys, iguanas, and several bird species at the resort. The staff was warm and hospitable. You really feel welcome here. Highly recommended!

Borinquen is an ok place with a beautiful park/garden, a nice pool-area and interesting wildlife on premise. The excursions we booked (horseback-riding, canopy zip-lining were great - and also great value for money! But that is about it for the positives. The negative points are: - zero communication before arrival. We tried all channels (mail, phone, whatsapp) to get in contact with the hotel before arrival but we were simply ignored. Only when a helpful concierge from a hotel we stayed before called with a local phone did they react. When we arrived it turned out that they received all our messages before. - very low quality of food in all restaurants and also for breakfast. Given that there are no outside options available (the place is in the middle of nowhere...), a real problem honestly. - Rooms are huge, but old and not too clean. - maybe this is our own fault, but we booked the place mainly because of its closeness to the Rincon de la Vieja National Park. It turned out, however, that the park is still a 1.5h drive away.... with the shorter and more direct road 'not recommended'. All in all, a mixed experience and definitely not the highlight of our trip. On the positive side, some of the staff was really outstanding, helpful and competent (but others unfortunarely were not...).
