I was enamored by the architecture and interior design of this hotel. Guadalajara is known for its architecture, whether historic or modern, and Bellwort fits into its landscape through its design. Unfortunately, that is where the pros for this hotel end. Upon entering the hotel, there is no one to greet you as hotel staff is sitting behind a tall desk and you first encounter a terminal to, theoretically, check yourself in. The process is long and annoying and for one of the couples in our party, impossible. After wasting ten minutes trying to figure out the machine, we had to go check in with the front desk anyway. You are only issued one card per stay which can get frustrating when you realize you need this card to do just about anything, including using the elevator and using the electricity in your room. The hotel is located on a busy avenue and is loud at all hours. We found it difficult to sleep the entire time we stayed there. The room itself, though aesthetically pleasing, is clearly not designed for practicality. The shower door opens into the stream of water. The door for the bathroom has no knob so it's somewhat difficult to close. There is no intuitive place to hang or place anything outside of a small rack in the front of the room. The television doesn't work. The staircase in the hotel is dark during the day and pitch black at night. The hotel advertises a restaurant and bar, but during our stay they were either closed or nonexistent. We would have liked to have known this, as having a restaurant/bar at the hotel was one of the reasons we booked. We had turnover service once during our stay and did not receive new towels, the floors were not vacuumed, and the sheets were not changed. The gym and pool area are nice and clean, though the pool area is subject to the noise pollution from the avenue. The quality of your stay mimics the cold and brutalist design of the hotel. I had high hopes for this place as it had been recommended by local guides, but I was left feeling very disappointed. Bellwort has so much potential to be one of the best hotels in the area and I hope they take suggestions left by other guests to help it get there. If it stays its current course, I would not return.
