Intercontinental Hotel & Resorts Properties in Guangzhou

The room was very comfortable and spacious; we even got upgraded from a king-size to a suite. However, the service left a lot to be desired. Check-in was incredibly slow, and they announced our room rate loudly for everyone to hear. They also forgot to give back my ID and had to chase after me with it. Later that night, when taking the elevator, we were asked for our room number. I questioned why a foreign couple didn't have to provide theirs, and the staff member mumbled something about them being busy and not stopping everyone. So, are we easier to stop? And seriously, what kind of hotel asks for your room number before you even get on the elevator (presumably to see if we're actually guests)? Is it just because we're not foreign? Then, at night, when we asked for another duvet, they brought a flimsy blanket instead, and did so very reluctantly. The hotel's scenery and location are quite good, but the service truly felt like a state-owned enterprise.
