Before I retired, I stayed at Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels throughout the US and always had excellent experiences. However, this stay was extremely disappointing. My brother-in-law made the reservations for our football game outing. When I checked in, I gave them my Priority Card to change it to my account. However, when I got the invoice after checking out, I find that it was still listed in my BIL's name and card number, even though the charge was on my credit card. I called the hotel and explained the situation and am waiting to hear from the Manager to see how this will be resolved. The second day, the lone elevator call button on our floor broke down and was inoperable. We had to walk down to the main floor, then take the elevator up to our floor following breakfast and also to be able to load our bags and ride down to the first floor when we checked out. The room itself was large and accommodating even though the floor could have been vacuumed better. The remote for the TV did not work and we had to get two more remotes to find one that worked (one didn't work at all, one turned the tv on, but that's all, and one finally worked). In addition, the TV service did not include ESPNU, which is extremely unusual for a hotel that caters to OSU college football fans. An important Big 12 game was carried on ESPNU that night, but we had to go to a bar to watch it - very disappointing. The shower had a special faucet that you had to pull down on to make it work, but no instructions as to how to do that. In addition, the faucet leaked whenever you turned it on. The shower head and water pressure were very good. In addition, there was no strainer on the lavatory drain and we almost lost a toothpaste cap down the drain. Someone could easily drop a ring down there. I reported this, but it never was changed. There were 2 paper coffee cups, but no other glasses/cups in the room (i.e. nothing in the bathroom). There was also one regular Keurig coffee pod and one decaf pod, even though there were two people staying in the room. It appears they may be remodeling, but there was no escutcheon around the sprinkler head in the ceiling and the wall paint/ceiling paint joints were not neat. The furniture was somewhat mismatched, and the window drapes were missing. In the dining area, the pancake machine was inoperable, but the scrambled eggs were well done and the bacon was truly crisp! In addition, the typical Holiday Inn sweet rolls were still very good. However, I did hear one child tell her parents she didn't want to come back because they had no pancakes. The one bright spot in our stay were the staff. They were always friendly and ready to help whenever they could. They provided the multiple tv remotes, clean towels and additional coffee pods and cups and were truly apologetic about the oversights.
Very Good
