Gora Hanaougi Madoka No Mori

The whole experience was a way over my expectations and very comforting to know they can arrange shuttle to pick us up at Gora Station whenever we need. The onsen was unbelievable whether is in the public or private, with the magnificent view! My partner and I were both very satisfied with the spread of food every breakfast and dinner. It truly deserved the 5 stars. We also wanna say a special thanks to Nana & Billy who professionally bring us a smile when they greeted us everyday we were there. Billy made the black tea exceptionally well that gave the most aroma of earl grey I ever had! The varieties of amenities that traditional Ryokan has was amazingly high standard. We will definitely choose to go back if we visit Hakone again no doubt.

From the start til the end of our stay it was wonderful. The hotel is small and cozy and that makes it quiet and special. The rooms were big and has a private Onsen. They also have a public Onsen to share with other guest and there wasn't anyone when I went in. The meals provided was wonderful although some of it maybe be acquired taste. We also had it in a private room. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Only thing is trying to get someone to help to us call the private shuttle while we are out was tricky. They provide free shuttle to/fro open air museum, Gora stn and kowakien bus stop. Would highly recommend this place if you like a small ryokan that provides kaiseki style meals with amazing hospitality.

From the moment we arrived, our stay felt magical. We booked a standard room for two nights with a dinner and breakfast package, and our cosy room even came with its own private onsen, such a treat. We were incredibly lucky that it snowed in Hakone during our visit. We wandered through the town as snowflakes fell around us, then spent the afternoon soaking in the Gora Onsen. Sitting in the steaming outdoor bath while snow drifted down was honestly unforgettable one of those rare travel moments you never stop talking about. A huge thank you to Mai and the wonderful staff at Gora for making our stay so special. Their warmth and hospitality made the experience even more memorable. We still talk about how incredible our time there was, and I would recommend Gora to anyone visiting Hakone. We’ll definitely be back.

Lovely stay! The service here is incredible, they were so caring and kind. The food was some of the best we had in Japan and probably our most memorable meals, you get a private dining room and it's a really nice time. The baths are great. Awesome part of our first Japan trip - along with Tokyo and Kyoto - to see a different part of the country.

An exceptional traditional experience! The location in Hakone is stunning and incredibly peaceful, making it a perfect 5/5 home base—especially convenient if you're exploring nearby spots like the Open-Air Museum. Having the private open-air bath in our room was a dream. The property is beautifully designed, perfectly clean, and the hospitality was truly world-class. Highly recommend to any couple visiting the area.

This is our most expensive stay oversees but it is so worth it! You do need to use public transportation and walk a little bit to get here but it was no issue for us. Of course you can use a taxi to get there or call them and they can set up transportation for you if needed, so that's a plus. The customer service here is top notch! Everyone is so professional, nice and super helpful! Their facility is gorgeous! Their dinner and breakfast was phenomenal as everything was so pretty to eat and it actually taste so good! Their public onsen area was clean and very nice and comfortable to use! Even everything in the room is comfortable and clean! You will have a great relaxing time here!

A ryokan that even the locals enjoy! It was an amazing experience staying in Madoka no Mori - from pick up at Gora station to the check-in, we were looked after. I was with my partner and accompanied by family members as well (their first time in Japan). The service was impeccable - communication was excellent, facilities were top-notch and the care we received was nothing short of amazing. We would definitely go back again in the future! The availability of your own private onsen in the room with hot spring water was so worth it. Great selection of seasonal food during dinner and breakfast. Staff very flexible in assisting our travel plans the next day as well. Given that it's located in the higher areas of Hakone, it does limit ability to get to the hotel unless you have a car. However, there is a shuttle available to pick up guests. Only thing was that our group got a questioning look from the driver initially when we approached the shuttle saying we had a booking. It wasn't until they saw our names on the list of guests that they happily helped us out. It did affect the initial feelings we had with the ryokan.
