The Egon Hotel is a stone's throw from the Reeperbahn station and a shortish walk from the river and the Fischermarkt. The area is a little bit on the seedy side but as a 74 year old woman I felt perfectly safe on my own. The hotel is well run and well organised. Everything I needed was there. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was well appointed. It was cleaned daily and (though I did not request it) my towels were changed every day. Breakfast (for which you pay extra) was good. I saw no decaffeinated coffee on display which I might have liked. The bar was a comfortable area in which to sit in the evening. There is an extensive range of leaflets, guides on display as well as a well-stocked "library". All in all, a good hotel at a good price.
