If you are looking for a cheap no amenities place to sleep, it fits the bill. We did the two day road to Hana and stayed here. The bed was comfortable and it worked fine. Cheap and simple with a private bathroom. Our room was dated, but they were actively remodeling.

Everything about my stay at the Nana Inn was great, the location, the room, everything. Bear and his family went out of their way to accommodate me. When my commuter flight out of Hana was delayed by several hours, Bear found a driver to get me to OGG on time for my flight home. Thanks Bear and Chin!

A handy base for visiting the Kīpahulu district of Haleakalā National Park, and for a Road to Hana drive. Host "Bear" had several helpful suggestions - like where to go to buy a replacement for a ruined flip-flop. Also lent us an umbrella for transporting luggage from car to lobby. The bedrooms are upstairs, kitchen facilities are downstairs. No keys needed - you'll use a key code to access the stairs, your bedroom, your private bathroom (across the hall), and the kitchen. Our room was quite comfortable, though small (had to step around my open suitcase on the floor). Appreciated its mini frig; though guests are welcome to use the fullsize refrigerator-freezer in the kitchen, and we did, we liked having our beverages nearby. Everything seemed clean. There's a pleasant upper deck, accessible by outside stairs, which we didn't realize until shortly before we checked out. Notes: Don't expect to check in early, but you can relax on the porch. NO shoes allowed anywhere except the porch (an inconvenience for me), and no eating in the bedrooms.

I loved our stay at Hana Inn. The room was comfortable, the use of the kitchen and local coffee was much appreciated. Best of all it allowed us to take our time on the road to Hana. Location, near food trucks, was the best. It also allowed us to hike the Pipiwai trail the next day before anyone else was there.

Hana was not easy to get to. We went there primarily to enjoy the eastern part of Haleakala NP and the local scenery. It's a very quiet town without a whole lot of commercialization. However, there were also not a lot of choices in accommodation and that's how we ended up with Hana Inn. This is a small inn with only 8 rooms. We had room 8 which was described as the honeymoon suite and it was anything but. There was a lot of foot traffic just outside of our room in the shared balcony (not in the description) and during our stay we had a noisy family next door with children constantly stomping. The photo on the inn's website is also inaccurate and appears to be a duplicate of another room. The furnishing shown is not the same as what we had and there was no closet or dresser of any kind; we literally had to live off our suitcases for the time we were there. The walls are also thin and the inside hallway can be noisy depending on the neighbors. During our stay, there were also people camping in the front yard of the property--not sure if they were hotel guests and it was not great for ambiance. The staff (Bears) was friendly and helpful with tips on local sights, esp. the fact that food may not be readily available much after 5 pm.

This place was just awesome. Bear (property manager) is such a nice and helpful person. Everything was pleasant about our stay, and it so close (one block) from the ocean. Could not recomend it enough.

We drove the Hana Highway, which was awesome and I would thoroughly recommend it. Hana Inn is more like a backpacker hostel. You have to leave your shoes at the outside door. The room that we had was clean and tidy, but extremely cramped and in my mind, overpriced. There was no en-suite bathroom and the bathroom that we could use was very small. There is no bar at the 'hotel', but when we asked where there was a bar, Bear was rather rude and unhelpful, giving us directions such as 'go south for xxx yards, then turn east'. An older gentleman appeared and was more helpful in his directions, mentioning streets and roads rather than compass points. The Inn isn't badly located for the small, compact town of Hana.

As many others have said, this is a good, affordable option for an overnight stay in Hana. Clean rooms, helpful staff, beautiful location. All the basics covered. It’s a bit inconvenient to go across the hall and punch in a code for bathroom access, but overall not a huge deal. Also, a message for my fellow sweaty people: in July I felt very hot at night, even with two fans. This is not a complaint against the hotel, just a warning. I was uncomfortable, but maybe staying at a different time of year would be less sticky. Of course, this is a great location if you’re staying overnight while traveling Road to Hana. More affordable than other options in the area, which is important to note.
