A very special place, especially compared to the rest of busy, bustling Maui… really felt like you were on the edge of the island after driving hours on the Road to Hana. Were rooms a little dated? Sure, in the most charming way possible! We slept with deck glass doors open (screen doors closed), with crashing waves lulling us to sleep. Pool was uncrowded, relaxing way to slide into Hana vibe. Free laundry room allowed us to replenish clothes while enjoying laid-back spirit. Only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is limited food options. On-property breakfast was beyond great, one of best meals on trip…. Kids still talking about Hawaiian sweet bread French toast! But Hana Ranch restaurant is literally only sit-down dinner in town, and that meal, while good, cost $250 for equivalent of burgers and fries for four. Just can’t see where one would eat if staying more than one night..
