Dongpo Hotel

The hotel's location is excellent; you can reach West Lake just by walking downstairs. There are plenty of malls, restaurants, and various amenities nearby. The staff are also very enthusiastic. Recommended!

The service was warm and attentive, and the breakfast was delicious. It's also super close to West Lake Scenic Area, just a two-minute walk.

The hotel staff were very welcoming and helped us with our luggage. The front desk was thoughtful enough to upgrade us to a twin-bed standard room, which was very clean. The breakfast was a mix of Chinese and Western, and it was decent; as someone used to Western breakfast, I found it sufficient. The location is excellent, close to the subway, pedestrian underpass, and bus stops. It's a short walk to West Lake. There's some traffic noise from the street, but I found it negligible and acceptable.

I was traveling with my elderly family members who specifically wanted to see the West Lake musical fountain. Since I had other plans in the evening, I booked the Dongpo Hotel for their convenience, requesting connecting rooms. When I went to check in around 12 PM, they said the rooms weren't ready, which I understood. I figured I'd just leave our luggage and go out. However, the front desk told me there was only one room of that type per floor, so connecting rooms weren't possible. They offered an upgrade for 100 RMB/night per room to arrange adjacent rooms. I called Ctrip right then and there, and the front desk immediately changed their story, saying it wasn't that there was only one room per floor, but that the previous occupants had extended their stay, making rooms unavailable. These were two completely different statements – there's no way I misheard! Absolutely no integrity! Eventually, with Ctrip's coordination, I paid an extra 300 RMB to get two adjacent rooms, making the total for both rooms for one night 1218 RMB. I had seen similar comments in the review section before, thinking it was just a coincidence, but now I see it's a regular occurrence! The hotel being old was expected, and that's fine. However, there was a long hair in the electric kettle, indicating poor hygiene. The room door chain was missing, showing damaged hardware. In the street-facing room, even with the windows closed after 12 AM, I could still hear a sound like a street-sweeping machine outside, so the soundproofing isn't good. Breakfast starts at 7 AM, and even arriving before 8 AM, replenishment was slow, and empty plates were frequent. When I asked the front desk about disposable slippers at check-in, they said they could be delivered to the room but also mentioned that disposable slippers are slippery and suggested using the reusable eco-friendly ones. They kept switching between explanations, which perfectly matched the overall vibe of the hotel – very petty! The hotel's location is indeed excellent, close to West Lake, with many surrounding malls, and convenient transportation. As for whether to stay here, it depends on individual needs, how broad-minded you are, and how lucky you get! I've written this in detail for everyone's reference. Finally, a big thank you to Ctrip for their prompt response! I also hope that special circumstances can be stated on the room availability page in advance. For future bookings, if the price difference isn't significant, Ctrip will still be my first choice!
