Lovely place to stay, full of character and clean. Only down side I can find is there was hot water pipes behind a wooden screen in my bedroom and my sons bedroom and it was like a sauna. No way of turning the heat down and the 1 fan we had between us didn't help much at all. Not much sleep had because of it. The lounge area was really comfortable and quiet, kitchen was well stocked. I didnt mind toast jam and cereal for breakfast, coffee and tea making facilities were great. Would have liked an ensuite bathroom but again it wasn't an issue x. Overall it was a pleasant place to stay xx

First impression from the front of the property were good but I'm afraid it was all downhill from there. The bed was very uncomfortable. Definitely in need of a new bed. The toilet seat was unhinged. There's a hole in the wall in the bathroom which I assume was the sewage pipe from the old toilet that would have been previously there. Breakfast is basic cereal toast yoghurt. I suppose it's cheap enough not to care but a little more care and attention is definitely needed. We saw absolutely no one during our stay. We literally had to wash our own dishes. I wouldn't stay again. A few more quid and you can stay in a travel lodge where it's warm and definitely more comfortable

We booked the family room with garden view because it is so spacious, nice, and private. The big problem was that the bed is VERY VERY uncomfortable. You can feel the springs, which are very obvious while you try to sleep. We wrote to the owner about the terrible mattress, but received no reply. Another thing is that the sofa needs a new cover. The bathroom is great with good water pressure and lots of hot water. The room was clean, and so was the shared kitchen. Breakfast is self-serve with simply the bare essentials. The guests in the main house were workmen, and pleasant. Nice, quiet street location. I would stay here again only with a new, proper mattress. The owner really needs to care about this and do something about it.

Arrived about 8pm as we had travelled to Harlow to bury my fathers ashes. Outside was pitch black. No security light! We were in room 1 on the ground floor. Very clean room and en-suite, however one of the plug sockets was hang out! No free view tv when all I wanted to do was chill after the day we had had. Called owner several times but no answer. Email sent and again ignored! Rude! No lamps in the room. No dressing table to do your make up. No shaver socket in bathroom and hole in the tiles. Broken hanger left in drawer. Very very basic. Every time someone went in and out of the kitchen and lounge the door banged really loudly. Did not bother with breakfast which again was very basic. Would not stay again.

Very basic but clean. Didn't check booking details thoroughly as thought all guest houses nowadays have en-suite and a kettle in the room. This had neither. Breakfast provided is basic DIY in shared kitchen and neighbouring guests left sinkful of dirty dishes (next to the sign that asks people to wash up what they use). Ideal for Stanstead airport.

Don’t be fooled by the pictures! Minimal effort is put into this “hotel”. The owners do not reside there. You have to book online. Our room was in serious need of some tlc - the mattress was cheap and uncomfortable and the pillows were so flat both my husband and I had hardly any sleep and had stiff necks. We were on the ground floor and anyone walking above us sounded like a herd of elephants. The doors didn’t close without a fight and one of the other guests actually got locked in his room as the lock fell off! There is a strange pervading smell like wet dog throughout. The breakfast is a strawberry yoghurt and some toast or cereal which you have to prepare yourself as well as wash up. We stayed here because we were caught up in the air traffic control chaos that occurred yesterday and we were desperate but we definitely wouldn’t re-book. There was no sign of the owners and a few of the other guests staying there were from France and Spain with limited English who really wanted to speak to them but had no idea how to contact them.

This place is just awful-don't bother don't take my word for it read other reviews. Not told about three flights if stairs - we were in attic room - window difficult to open - no mirror in bedroom - bedside tables very shabby - need to be taken to the dump - open wires - bed very uncomfortable could feel all the springs - no one answered the phone when another guest was locked out - hate to think what guests would do if there was a serious emergency - DO NOT STAY HERE!!

We took two rooms, the garden room and a double room. The double room had a sewage problem and stank and had open electrical wires sticking out of the wall. We were forced to leave the window wide open on the ground floor next to a road to try and avoid the smell and we had a visit from a cat!!! We contacted the hotel for help - no answer to telephone or response to our issue or response the next day. Do not stay here - staff unresponsive and room disgusting.
