I stayed with my husband and two adult kids for our third son's college graduation nearby. The excellent: Front desk staff is top notch: caring and professional and really took care of us. If not for their help in making sure we had a room that was good for us we'd have had a really rough stay. The housekeeping staff was also friendly and our room was cleaned well. Rooms are really nicely decorated, including the bathrooms. Comfortable beds, lots of fluffy fresh white towels. Brought us fresh extra duvet and fan--thank you, everyone cared about making us comfortable and we were. The less excellent: The general maintenance on a hotel that someone has clearly invested in significantly to give it a high end feel should have been better. It doesn't feel scrubbed and cleaned in public areas, and it's noticeable right away. The hallways felt just a little grimy and not fresh, the walls and furniture are a little banged but--in ways that could be repaired if there was a regular maintenance program. The grout in the bathroom could be better scrubbed--it's obviously cleaned between guests, but it needs a monthly or quarterly deeper cleaning. The brown faux fur blankets were kind of gross we immediately put them in the closet so as not. There was a prom while we were there (we thought this would be more disruptive than it was, it was fine), but the service elevator was out, the staff working the event had to use the single elevator to the 6th floor to move equipment, and the next morning the elevator floor was completely sticky, the public bathrooms were a mess, and the main floor hallway had empty glasses and garbage on the floor--why wouldn't the staff have cleaned those areas the night before? I do think this is a nice hotel, it just needs someone looking carefully at and taking pride in the cleaning details. I'm taking the time to write this review because I know the hotel does want feedback, and I think if they act on the feedback it could be a full quality level higher place to stay downtown.
