I love the "family owned" resort. The staff are welcoming, friendly and go out of their way to make your stay a great one. Yes, the resort needs some love (but who doesn't) it's family owned not corporate owned, so they have their limits, so get over your righteous self. I've stayed there every year (5 - 6 yrs) that I have traveled to Maui, I do like the smaller resort as I have tried a larger corporate owned resort was truly disappointed (Kaanapali Beach Hotel) had a smoker in the building where I had my room. I have asthma and it wasn't a good stay for me and the front desk didn't really care about my health concerns. So I will always go back to Royal Lahaina for my vacation stays. I am truly grateful to the owners of the Royal Lahaina for having Ohana to their fellow islanders and helping them from the devastating Lahaina fire :( I'm hopeful that when I go on vacation this year that I can stay at the Royal Lahaina (but I understand the reason if I can't because they are housing displaced islanders). Keep up the helpful great support. Mahalo R. Dane

From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed and greeted as a valued guest. I believe that the staff helped make my visit very special. All my interactions during my stay were absolutely positive. The cottage I stayed in was clean with a gorgeous view. Fresh towels and linens every other day made for a very comfortable stay. The beach in front of the resort is incredible with Lanai and Molokai across the Channel, sea turtles and yes the occasional whale sightings from shore. I was told the whales may have been late season stragglers but I get it, I didn't want to leave either. The grounds of the resort are beautiful, like walking through a tropical garden. Well kept and a very relaxing stroll. The restaurant and bar overlooking one of their two pools with an ocean view was great. I was told by the staff that there is a planned remodeling project coming soon. So keep that in mind as some of the chairs are in need of replacement. From the warm smile and Aloha you receive from the hostess Rosalyn, to the wait staff which included Cara, Mike and others (sorry I can't remember all of their names). They were all very friendly, helpful and helped make for a pleasant relaxing dining experience with incredible views. I'd be remiss if I didn't include a very positive comment about their man Ford, friendly, caring professional that made me feel like I was family and gave me excellent menu recommendations and their Reuben Sandwich did not disappoint, yummy! He also recommended their newly added Friday BBQ buffet, which was an amazing dinner experience at an excellent value. I hope they keep that going, fingers crossed. I did not have a bad dining experience during my entire stay. Compliments to the chef, well done. I think they had live music every night I was there and that was an unexpected treat with some incredible performances. Last but certainly not least, the bartenders are friendly and professional. Made me feel like I was at my neighborhood bar. Great recommendations and superior service. Eric, Jonathan, Jose, Marc, Melissa, Mike, Richard, Roger and the rest of their staff made for a fun relaxing time, spent in a beautiful place. Happy hour 2 - 5 pm. Mahalo my friends, until next time.

Well, this is a late review because I’m a procrastinator but, I tell ya, every week since our trip I have said to myself: I got to write that review!! We loved the Royal Lahaina!! So central to everything, sadly, the island has been through so much trauma since we were there. The views are incredible. The beach is right there and there are 2 pools to sit with your family and drink and chill! We especially wanted to say thank you to Ford, who made us feel so cared for!! He was the highlight of our trip and the reason why I remembered to write this review

As a senior who lost her home and most of her business in the Lahaina fire, I was moved to the Royale Lahaina by the Red Cross. This is my 8th move since the fire, but I have actually stayed here the longest as I continue to strive to find a more permanent housing solution. From what I hear, the Royal Lahaina opened its doors to fire survivors immediately after the fire, long before they had a contract or knew that they would be compensated for housing. That says a lot about the character of the people at the very top level of management, and this same ideal continues down to every employee that I have meet and interacted with here. When I first checked in and the staff at the front desk could see that I had an injured knee, they put me in a room close to the elevator and suggested a shower chair, which made all the difference in my comfort level. The maintenance guys have made regular stops to replace A/C filters, check plumbing, and ask if anything needed attention, so I know that they are on top of the general upkeep. Currently, they are working on the exterior of the building, but as I 'talk story' with some of the crew, they tell me how blessed they are that management keeps finding them 'things do do' so that they can keep their employment during these uncertain times. And then there is Chiiko, this little Japanese lady who has a desk in the lobby. She picks flowers and makes wonderful leis for the weddings, furnishes cute little flower vases for the dining tables, but more importantly she has a keen eye and notices the guests that are struggling from this recent tragedy. In such a quiet, nondescript way, she has been a shoulder to cry on, a caring hand, doing whatever she can to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Most would not know that Chiiko also has lost her housing in the fire, as many employees here have. Yet, it is as if they have put their personal troubles aside so that they can be available to help others. It is this overall essence of Aloha that Chiiko and the other employees here at the Royale Lahaina have that bring me hope. They recognizing that we truly are one ohana, and that it will be possible to rebuild our entire town, so long that we all remember what is truly important.

Old, noisy, intermittent wifi, long walk to parking. Staff that doesn't care about kupuna or locals. They are remodeling while charging $500 a day for the wildfire survivors to stay here.. Don't go to Lahaina, it's a mess.

Royal Lahaina resort is a great place to stay. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The restaurant and luʻau is amazing. The beach is right there and if you don't want to go in the ocean, they have 2 swimming pools and fitness center.

The Royal Lahaina has always been my favorite resort & still is, I sell activity like the luaus, boat trips, helicopter tours & many other things & i always tell people Luau means party in Hawaiian i would always book the Luau here prior to the fire because it is the best most traditional experience & is a party the luau here as the actual traditional underground emu where the pig roast all day till the luau. Since the fire they have just reopened the luau Tuesdays & Sundays and im so happy be able to start booking it again the royal lahaina has done more for the people of Lahaina then any other resort or company on maui since our horrible fire leveled our perfect little molberry town of Lahaina last Augest the royal Lahaina is always going be at the too of my list for a place to stay on maui. Mahalo you guys!
