A very interesting house with tasteful 'magazine' interiors and a very warm welcome from David, our host. We stayed in the big super king room with a huge and extremely comfortable bed, loads of space and a roll-top bath. Overall it was a pleasant stay, in a great location close to town. Breakfasts are not conventional English, but I loved the creamy porridge, the fresh fruit, with delicious juices and smoothies all on offer. There were a couple of ******* that prevent me from giving 5 stars. The sign had come down so we had difficulty finding it, and the garden path needed 5 mins attention trimming back the undergrowth to prevent possible injury and annoying face whipping at the least. We arrived 35 mins earlier than my estimated time of 5pm. We were on foot, having just walked a trail we'd never done before, so it was a surprise to hear our room wasn't ready. David gave us lovely tea and cake in the lounge while he got on with the room, but it wasn't very professional to not have it ready in good time. The room although looking gorgeous, wasn't that practical. There's a very low beam and my husband is over 6'3" tall, a real hazard in the middle of the night. I'm 5'7" and even I had to be careful. I'm not a fan of old fashioned baths to actually use, and there isn't a separate shower. I caught my toes on the edge climbing in - painful! We stayed for 2 nights, and nothing was done to the room on the second day. I had to ask for more ordinary tea bags (we'd used the only 2). I don't expect clean sheets or towels, but neither do I expect to have to clean my husband's hairs out of the bath with toilet paper (as there was nothing else), before I can use it on the second evening. We were out from after breakfast until around 4pm, so not really any excuse to not have had a quick check. This wasn't what I expected from the 'luxury' B&B described.
