Review Had a fabulous time at Aurora lodge. Fantastic location for visiting the the south coast waterfalls, glaciers and black beach, horse riding at the Hestheimar. Easy to get to Golden Circle. Close to a supermarket and couple of restaurants. There are a number of self service petrol stations along the way. The lodge itself has ovely cosy feel. Nice relaxing areas with great views. 2 hot tubs with choice of temperature. Views over Hekla volcano. Rooms are a decent size. Comfy beds, the room is clean and warm. Toiletries and kettle provided. (Only one tea and coffee though. Sure I could have asked for more but I felt awkward. Just wish they would put a few out) Breakfast was lovely. Cereals, breads, pastries, pancakes, yoghurts, jams, bacon, sausage, egg and beans. Tea, coffee and fruit juice. I really really enjoyed my time here the staff are lovely. I have two issues for feedback and they are NOT complaints. The road to the lodge is about a mile on a dirt track. In the dark you had to go very slowly for potholes. I was probably being extra careful as in a hire car. Secondly I booked way in advance and asked if I could guarantee a room with a north facing view (I was willing to pay) I was told there were no rooms specifically facing north all rooms would have good view of the Aurora if it were to appear. On arrival there were many rooms that were facing north and by then all were full. The Aurora did appear but too many lights on the cabin doors that spoil a weak display and make it hard to see. I ended up sat at the side of my lodge to see the Aurora with a coat over the light to try and darken the area I was in. Overall fantastic stay and I will return! Had a fabulous time at Aurora lodge. Great experience

Very confortable room / beds / pillows. Water kettle and hardryer available in the room, which is no local standard. TV. Well heated. Clean. Well illuminated bathroom. Coffee and tea available in the hall. Inhouse restaurant, 2 hot pots, bar. Supermarket nearby. Unfortunately, the shower system does not work: if you are lucky, you only need to wait for ages until hot water is available. If you are not lucky, you will have to wait for your next hotel to have a shower. This was not only my experience here. For this reason, I drastically reduced my rating: had it been possible to have a shower here, this hotel would have been rated 3 points.

We chose Vos based on the high reviews here and also proximity to everything we wanted to do on the way to Vik (about an hour drive and a half from the hotel) and yet have a shorter drive heading back north on the final day of our stay as opposed to be driving back from Vik - and from that perspective it couldn't work out any better, given I was surprised how far from the main road the hotel itself is - not that it's a problem but just quite a drive to make it back and forth if you stay for longer than 1 night, like we did. The hotel is cozy, clean, on a smaller end - for some reason I expected a much bigger property - the rooms therefore were on a smaller end, probably the smallest rooms we had during our 10 days - it wasn't an issue of course as there was still plenty room for 2 big bags to open up. Breakfast was tasty, fresh and complimentary hot tea/chocolate/coffee 24/7 was also a very welcome thing - especially at night when we stayed outside longer in the cold waiting for the northern lights :) honor bar was also a nice touch if beer (prices very comparable to everywhere else) or wine or soda/pop was something you wanted to grab (no walking distance store, nor one for quite a long drive either so pick up things before you settle in or use the honor bar) We were excited for the dinner but ultimately skipped as it's a very limited menu (understandably) - in a retrospective that wasn't the best idea as there are no really great dinner spots in this area of Iceland until you really get closer to Vik - and that is way too long of a drive just for a meal

The cabin was really cozy and you can enjoy seeing horses just next to your cabin!

The family self-built hotel is very good. The owner's cats and dogs are very cute and loved. The small spots actively sway the stones to let me play with it, and the kittens will come to slap you. As a reminder, the hotel does not have a restaurant and food. Each room has a kitchen. You need to buy it yourself.

Hotel Fljotshlid was one of the best hotels we stayed at for our honeymoon adventures in Iceland. A little secret hideaway. The rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean. The restaurant served a hot buffet in the evening, which was fantastic for those travelling and wanting a warm hearty meal after a long day. The staff were attentive and helpful. The surrounding areas were beautiful and picturesque. For those wanting to stay and chill for a bit longer, they even have books, games, puzzles and even a pool table. All this for a reasonable price. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Very clean, self-check-in (the key with the name is in the data bag at the front desk), there is a shoe rack at the door, shoes can not be worn in, so remember to bring slippers. The shower has a door but there is no glue strip below so the water will flow out. The breakfast quality is very good. Overall will recommend to friends.
