The hotel is in the city center and is much larger than hotels in Athens. It is also very close to the seaside, and there is a good commercial street next to it where you can eat. There is a convenience store downstairs which is very nice.

I chose this hotel because I had to do errands early the next morning. The hotel is located in the center of the old town, very close to Piazza Venezia and the church. The surrounding environment is good. There are restaurants, supermarkets and central parking downstairs. Parking is 7 euros per night, and there are 24 The little valet parking guy; it takes about 15 minutes to take a taxi from Heraklion Airport, and the taxi price is 15 euros; the room in this Ibis Styles is large by European standards, but the decoration is relatively rough, not like Ibis's convention is that it does not have a full bathroom; the toiletries are provided very casually, there are no slippers, and the linen is not very good; luckily there is a kettle.

Transportation is convenient, there are many restaurants to choose from, and it's easy to walk to interesting places nearby. There is a restaurant in the small square at noon, which is good and cheap. Rich breakfast

Room was spacious and clean. Nothing to shout about on the views. Huge balcony. Very centrally located. No more than 5 minutes to the city centre by foot. Efficient. Breakfast was decent spread. Not much amenities within the hotel though. But still a good place to explore the city by foot

Would avoid. Feels like 3* at most. The hotel is in a good location – about all that can be said in terms of positive comments. We found the staff to be a mixture of poorly trained/unprofessional/disengaged. The hotel décor is very dark/gloomy. Our room was not properly cleaned prior to check-in. As others have commented, we found an unacceptable level of maintenance: broken fixtures/fittings in the bathroom and a broken drain in the shower with a danger of injury. The breakfast selection was very basic, drab and unappealing.

This was my second time visiting the hotel. Location is good and the room was spacious and clean. But that was it... The bed was a disaster. They put 2 single beds together and 3 more layers on top of them so they can pass as a king bed. The result is that you keep falling in a gap between the two beds. Very uncomfortable! (see photo) Tv in the room is very old. There is no connectivity of any kind. You cannot watch Netflix or any other platform neither to connect your phone so you can watch anything by casting from it. You can only watch local channels. The Pc that they have for guests was not working. I asked the front desk on my arrival if I can use a pc because I need to work on a pdf for 2 minutes and to send an email, and that was not possible. One emergency red light was blinking inside our room for 7 days and 7 nights. Even though I informed the front desk about it I believe it is still blinking until now. (see photo) The marble drain of the shower is broken to many pieces. It is dangerous because you can cut your feet there. (see photo) There are two Lifts, the one was making a noise begging for maintenance (got it on video). Besides all that, the worst thing about our stay there, was the receptionist (Anna). On our first day there we woke up at 8:25 in the morning to the sound of hammers and drills. The amount of noise was unbearable. I called the front desk, they told me they will check it out and never called me back. One hour after (hammers still working) I went down with my wife and my 7 year old kid. I asked one receptionist what was going on with that noise. I wanted to know if there was some kind of an emergency repair or if that situation is going to be repeated the next morning. The receptionist was polite and apologizing while explaining the situation. That was the time Mrs Anna, who was typing on a pc next to us, decided to cut in our conversation (without minding to look at us while speaking at any time!!!) saying: "how many days is this gentleman's reservation because we do not mind if he wants to go and find another Hotel". I was furious with the impoliteness, the attitude and the lack of professionalism. The next time Mrs Anna interrupted our conversation was with the same attitude and again without looking at us. When I told her that she should at least look at me while she speaks to me, she was ironic. This type of behaviour is unaccepted, she should try another job that has nothing to do with talking to guests. The day we where checking out she saw us approaching the front desk and said "How unlucky for you, you will have to check out with me now", I remained calm and said "Goodmorning", then she did not reply but asked her colleague next to her to check me out and went away!

There were two positives. The view from the balcony towards the harbour was great. The bed was also comfortable, which was a relief after a day of travelling. The negatives were numerous. The door to my room didn't lock, and the knob to put the lock in place was detachable (in the wrong way). The knob to switch from the hand-held shower head to the fixed shower head was also detachable, though it was possible to switch between the two with gentle coaxing. Staying with the bathroom, there was a bottle of body lotion that was 3/4 used, presumably by other guests. The shower was like a cave, with no lighting save for that already in the bathroom. In the rest of the room, there was a strange brown stain on the curtain. The top sheet of the bed was ripped at the top right corner and was also stained. Overall, a poor experience. For most guests, this hotel is probably a three star experience. Mine was a two star experience.

We stayed in the building removed from reception over the restaurant and street. Some noise into the night from the street but not bad as it was raining and early in the summer season. No view from our window. Room was spacious, bed comfortable and bathroom was enormous with a separate toilet. Location is handy to the museum, shopping, restaurants and the waterfront. Down side was our room missed being serviced. Not a show stopper but was in our price paid. And the second morning breakfast didn’t have a hot food offering, only continental for two tour groups. Again, not a show stopper but was in our room rate we paid.
