Location good. Staff all good. Maybe find another smoking area for staff. Improve hot breakfast. Better quality beans, eggs, salmon would help and/or more croissant choice. Thank you.

Stayed overnight when we had a wedding. It’s quite a quaint hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms had plenty of tea and coffee and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was great with a choice of cereals or hot food. We had a good stay

Beautiful old hotel, with so much charm and character. The manager and a gentleman (maybe called James) made us feel very welcome. The room was clean and comfortable and was right in the heart of the town. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

An old hotel (hundreds of years old) on the main road in Ross. Full of character and therefore the stairs are steep and winding with no lift and the floor boards creak a lot! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are of good quality, with the usual English breakfast together with alternatives like avocado or smoked salmon with a choice of eggs on sourdough toast. There is a nice bar area and sitting room. The beds are comfortable with good quality bed linen and there are large soft towels. However, if you are a light sleeper, ask for a room on the back on the second floor, otherwise noise from the road or the room above may disturb you. However, if you go to bed early, at the weekend locals drinking on the terrace at the back may also disturb you. Free car parking but a tight entrance and if you arrive late you may not get a space, but there is a public car park nearby. We chose a superior room, which was larger with a large king bed. However, we found a few small touches we would expect in a superior room missing, such as no bath robes, box of tissues or biscuits. Tea and coffee were PG Tips and Nescafé, I would expect better brands. Overall a nice stay.

I popped into The Kings Head Hotel the other evening as this used to be a regular bar i would use before i moved out of town and had hoped to catch up with a few old drinking buddies that were regulars here. Upon arrival, the charming old building still looked just as good as when it did on my previous visit some 5 or so years ago. I was served at the bar by a young man who was very pleasant and and poured an excellent pint of Pravha (one of my favourite beers). It was priced a little higher than I’m usually used to paying but it’s a classy premises so accept a small price hike was possibly warranted. All the bar tools around the bar have been removed from my last visit which is a shame but i guess things may have changed due to the pandemic. I stayed and had a couple more pints when finally someone I recognised came in (one of the old locals). I was saddened to hear that the locals had essentially been priced out of drinking there as the landlord/owner didn’t want them cluttering up the bar and in the way of the paying guests who were staying in rooms. I found this most strange as from my experience, the locals made the atmosphere at the bar, quite often mingling with guests and having a general good time. Apparently, the locals now go to other places in the town that are cheaper and not made to feel quite as much of an inconvenience. The old local i spoke to says he only comes in for a pint or 2 a week now as he rarely has anyone to talk to. Sad times!! You should always look after your locals as they are the ones who are there when times are less busy.
