Hotel Punta Leona

When we, a group of 14 senior citizens and 3 younger persons, arrived it around 1pm and the rooms were not ready. The manager gave us a briefing such as what to do to get towels for the beach, where our rooms are located, and where to have breakfast in the morning etc... So far everything is cool. BUT then... 1/ Around 3pm everyone was there to check-in. There were 2 front desk persons but there were 3 lines. The check-in process was slow as the front desk persons continued to walk in and out of the office looking or checking for something. One of the group members was getting mad because he was waiting so long already. He demanded to speak to a manager. The manager came out and asked for the man's name. The manager turned around and immediately able to retrieve the room keys for the man. I waited in line for about 10 more minutes but eventually got my room keys. 2/ The check-in process was slow and cumbersome, but to get to our rooms was even worse. We can either WALK about 15-20 to our rooms or wait for a shuttle bus which is run every 30 minutes. Walking and pulling a 50-pound luggage under 90+ degrees heat is not an option for us senior citizens, so we all decided to wait for the shuttle. When the shuttle arrived, I noticed that there was no space to store the bags. The driver and another person helped us load our bags onto the van putting the bags on top of the passenger seats. 13 of us made it onto the van and the other 4 had to wait for the next shuttle. 2 younger persons decided to walk to their room. 3/ The hotel advertised that both English and Spanish are spoken, but what I found is only staffs at front desk and lounges speak both languages. The shuttle drivers and room service persons don't understand English at all making it more difficult for us. 4/ Because everthing is stretched out so if a person wants to go some place, either walk or take a shuttle which is very inconvenient for guests, particularly senior citizens. Aside from the above, our room is decent although the mirror was stained by something. The pools and beaches are very nice. The restaurant, near our rooms, is really nice. It also has a sushi bar and a small pool.

If you’re going to stay at the Punta Leona Hotel y Club, going to the Sushi Bar is a must! We ate there 5 of our 7 night stay. Sushi is fresh & Lizz and Frank made it feel like we were meeting up with friends for dinner. Even had a visit from a toucan while there!

We stayed in a condo through Airbnb, it’s a safe property with a beautiful white sand beach. We enjoyed the Poke bowls at the beach & exploring the point at low tide. The Sushi restaurant on property was amazing. Lizz & Frank made our experience so fun! They welcomed us, got to know us & made the experience one we won’t forget. They even surprised us by making an off menu Fried Ice Cream for us!! Did we mention the Sushi was amazing? - what a hidden Gem

Lizz was our server and she was amazing, super friendly and very attentive. She made great recommendations, we thoroughly enjoyed both of our special dinners there , food, drinks and service was amazing!
