Langley Castle Hotel

What can I say, such friendly staff nothing is to much trouble. Amazing food in the restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. Beautiful rooms they’ve thought of everything and fabulous grounds. 5 stars from us and we’ll definitely be going back again . Our only complaint is that we weren’t staying there long enough just a two night break . We also loved the peacocks parading and calling it felt very special to be amongst them as they roamed the extensive grounds and hats off to the staff for the free castle tour it was so interesting and we loved the history it was mesmorising.

A great family place to stay, great rooms for us all. We all enjoyed the novelty of the castle and the tour. The breakfast was fabulous and we enjoyed a lovely walk around the grounds. All in all a great family place to stay.

Went to Langley Castle for afternoon tea with a friend and found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful, from the very smart young man on reception who gave us a lovely warm greeting, to those who simply walked through the lounge where we ate. Food was the normal afternoon tea mixture of sandwiches, scones and sweet treats, all of which were tasty and fresh. Will certainly head back later in the year.

Booked last minute, luxury hotel had the wow factor from the minute you enter the gates . Stayed in the new rooms, which were large and luxurious, not the castle, but had a lovely view of the castle. Both evening meal and breakfast were good. Would happily recommend to anyone, though remember this type of hotel comes at a price.

Cannot recommend this hotel more highly!! Stayed to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it really had the wow factor. Absolutely beautiful rooms, a great atmosphere and lovely food, the staff went out of their way to be friendly - really cannot fault anything. Grounds were very picturesque (loved the peacocks and nesting birds) and the hotel is an ideal base for exploring Hadrians Wall. Take the time to do the 10.15am tour as it’s very interesting and informative. Thank you for a truly memorable weekend.

Beautiful setting Excellent room just let down by the standard of decor in bathroom and bedroom Mouldy round bath, peeling paint and some lights didn’t work. Fantastic breakfast with personal service and food cooked to order. Excellent choice.

Friendly staff, lovely building, cobwebs in the bathroom and bin not emptied from previous occupant, wonky tap and no bathrobe or slippers from a 4 star hotel. Food amazing but finishing touches of service was very poor. Nice enough place but wouldn't stop there again.

The castle is beautiful but be aware that only the exterior walls are original. The interior was built in the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. Interior decor is a mix of antiques, good modern reproductions, and kitch. The staff were all lovely— very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast once in the restaurant on site, but were underwhelmed. My eggs Benedict was barely warm. We did not try the restaurant for dinner, but we really enjoyed the food at Buongiorno in Hexham and the Milecastle Inn. We stayed three nights. The room thermostat only worked the first night, and after that we were provided with a fan and had to leave a window open all night. We did report the problem to the front desk on both nights but it was not fixed while we were there. The bed was not the worst I’ve slept in, but it wasn’t super comfortable. There were a few other small maintenance issues present from the time we arrived, overall just showing a lack of attention to detail that one would expect for such a price-point. Overall, it was neat to stay in a castle, but I was a little disappointed at the same time. Important tip: If you plan to do laundry while on your trip, do it before you come to this area. It is very difficult to find a same-day, drop-off wash and fold service.
