Stayed to visit friends locally based on the reviews on Tripadvisor. Booked a large double room 106 which had stains on the carpet and bed cover, and bedside lamps which flickered constantly . The receptionist said that they were aware and had changed bulbs to no avail. Shame that they didn’t inspect the electrics. Went to the bar for an evening drink before leaving to join friends for dinner to be told that as we hadn’t booked, we would need to leave if a dinner customer came in, totally bizarre ! Explained that we were residents which made no difference at all to the young guy who seemed confused himself.Then directed to the pub next door. At breakfast the restaurant was late opening, and the breakfast was not great and rather undersized contrary to reviews here . Frankly not worth the £169 for B&B.

Lovely hotel on the edge of the new forest. Easy access to nearby towns and Dorset coast. Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean comftable. Will be booking again the next time I’m in the area, hopefully within the next few months.

What more can we say, our overnight stay here for a reunion dinner with 7 other couples was simply the best. The hotel, gourmet food & wine & the fantastic friendly staff who went above & beyond was a delight - we will be back very soon, thank you so much🙏

We arrived at The Lord Bute on 02.03.24, for an overnight stay, as we were going to a party nearby. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm and friendly welcome, from attentive staff. The restaurant, bar and hotel are all lovely to a high standard, and all members of staff were great.

Our Ramblers & Amblers lunch in the restaurant meant that it was a very busy time for the staff, who coped admirably. The food was excellent and well presented, and the waiters engaged with their customers in a polite and often humorous way. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience, and I look forward to visiting the Lord Bute again.

My husband and i attended the lunch on Wednesday and both found the lunch delicious and well presented. I had the crab starter,lamb rump and cheesecake,my husband had the smoked salmon,duck and sticky toffee pudding.The plates and food were all hot (apart from the starters).The staff were attentive and we had a very enjoyable time and look forward to returning in the future.

We had just a one night stay and were really impressed with this hotel. Check in was very efficient , full explanation of the facilities. We had a very comfortable room and therefore a great nights sleep. The bedroom and bathroom were spotless. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the stylish restaurant.
A good choice of cereals, fruit and yoghurt and a full English beautifully cooked and served . I really do hope to return to this hotel as we really enjoyed everything about it.

went there on valantines evening and we have been going there for the last 15 plus years no saxaphone player the music was dredfull i have a very eclectic range of music i did not recognise any of the music and it wasnt romantic the food was okay but not hot like it used to be we didnt get a rose as we have in previous years the only good thing was the staff they are always great will no be returning on valentines evening ever agen very
