Great B&B with made to order breakfast which saved us money. Plenty of free bottled water. The hosts were very personable and had plenty of suggestions for things to do and recommendations for eating. They were able to provide very helpful insights about the area. There are many guide books and maps available for the guests. Room had excellent view and provided us with several beautiful sunrises.

Love love love this place! The owners made us feel at home. We arrived late but they still met us in the parking lot and gave us a tour of their lovely property. The room was perfect with a comfortable king bed. And the views of the ocean...are to die for. We slept with the windows open listening to the waves and frogs. Breakfast was made to order and was better than any restaurant.

My stay at Hiro Bay Oceanfront was absolutely amazing. Located right above the ocean, it offers incredible views that you can't get enough of. The owners are super friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Our room was not only comfortable but beautifully decorated, adding to the peaceful vibe of the place. Breakfast was a delight, especially with the stunning ocean right in front of us. Adding to the charm was Moxi, the pet at Hiro Bay. Moxi is pretty cute and very friendly, making our stay even more enjoyable. It's rare to find a place that feels like a scenic retreat with the added bonus of a furry friend to greet you. I highly recommend Hiro Bay Oceanfront for anyone looking for a relaxing and picturesque getaway, with a little extra touch of cuteness.

Mother daughter trip. The attention to detail is amazing at the Hilo bay B&B. Super clean and amazing breakfast options, with snacks and drinks available throughout the day. We had an ocean front room and indeed the ocean waves are loud but didn’t bother us . The owners were knowledgeable and so accommodating to any requests we had. I would definitely stay here again if in Hilo

Very nice early 1900's building. Not much to look like from the outside. But, don't be fooled. EXCELLENT service. Our room was small but very nicely decorated. Our room (Suite #6) had a private bathroom (it's likely all of their rooms have private bathrooms). Perfectly clean. The made-to-order breakfast was outstanding. We had a beautiful fruit plate, omelet, special macadamia nut pancakes, bacon, coffee and juice. WONDERFUL!!! Unfortunately, we had to catch an early morning flight and weren't able to enjoy a breakfast on our second (final) morning. The location of the property is literally right on the water. We listened to the waves breaking all night. They also have snacks, delicious local bananas and bottled water available 24/7. They also have beach towels, boogie boards, binoculars, etc. available for guests to use. They have literally got you covered for ANYTHING you need. Highly recommend!

Very nice experience. Property is right on the water with waves crashing on the lava wall on which the property is located. Great ocean breeze all day long keeping the room cool all the time. Good breakfast with plenty of choices. Very helpful and friendly host.

With 6 rooms to choose from, I chose the oceanview suite #3 as it was a corner room that seemed to get good light. However, do note you also get the sounds of the coqui frogs from both sides. I believe the middle room may have less coqui frog noise but confirm with the innskeepers or owners before booking. Being on the east side of the island, you will be able to catch the sunrises right from your room so having an oceanview room was a big plus especially if you end up getting takeout since eateries close much earlier in Hilo. The breakfast is made to order by one of the innskeepers, sweet Tomomi that is served in an area with just as gorgeous ocean views. There is a shared fridge with other guests in case you have leftovers or anything perishable which we definitely did. Snacks like granola bars and tea are available all day as well as a cabinet full of sunscreen, bug spray, and anything else you may have forgotten.

The room was charming with a great view of the water and the hosts really made us feel welcome! They had fabulous recommendations for local restaurants and activities which really added to our trip- we highly recommend!
