Hilton Head Resort

The resort is okay if you are watching your travel dollar. Our unit (3408) was not well cleaned prior to our arrival. Dusty HVAC cover, mold in the master bath, unclean shower curtain and a bloody smear on the main bathroom wall. There were crumbs left on top of the refrigerator. The owner of this unit should look at a different cleaner. Confidentiality is out the window with our parking pass (placed in the vehicle window) containing our name, unit number and dates. It would be sufficient to print the expiring departure date. The property management that we dealt with were fine and professional but have limited say in the overall maintenance. The boardwalk was a nice route to the beach and was enjoyable. This, and central location, is why it did not receive a one star. To the owners, take care of the maintenance and cleanliness. If you are renting out your unit, remove the furniture covers.

This unit was very updated and nicely updated. Our unit was very close to the beach and the rest of the resort was great! Visiting Cocos is a must. Overall we had a great time and will certainly be back again next year.

I’ll have to look at the definition of “resort,” but this place is NOT it. The individual condo we stayed in was nice, and the location was good, but the property in general is a dump. Outdated, dirty, and clearly lack of updates. I’m not sure who even oversees this “resort.” No resort manager, no guest services. Only workers we saw were maintenance workers. Feral cats on property outside, and even being in both the indoor and outdoor pool made us cringe. Look elsewhere.

Depending on which owner you get the experience can be totally different for everyone. Our room was great, but my brothers room looked like the owner has updated it since the 80’s and when they called for no window blinds on the bedroom, he never fixed it. Be very cautious when you rent there, read reviews. Resort wasn’t awful.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, we booked this place through Vaycasa Got to our room, main TV didn’t work nor internet. Thought no worries they’ll get it worked out because I know things happen. Called them they showed up saying you have a bad HDMI cable. After four days of back and forth they finally got it fixed on our last night after getting rude with frustration, which I don’t normally do because I understand working in the service industries can be demanding. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the kids enjoyed the beach

The Complex is very old. Steam Room Never operates, Indoor pool and jacuzzi have a bad smell, Board walk is buckled, Facility has seen better days. Lots of families with 6-8 adults staying in a 2 bedroom unit. Outdoor pool is overcrowded. 600 units and a pool that might handle 50 people. A/C repair people in the facility at midnight. We did not enjoy our stay and this is the last time..

Unfortunately, our visit to the resort was less than ideal. While individual condos are owned, do NOT rent the She Shell Shack unless you are truly looking for a shack. There were health risks with the dishwasher not working and harboring flies. The paint was chipping and due to the age of the property a lead paint risk that could be detrimental to families traveling with children who are small or disabled. The property was not cleaned nor as advertised. While each unit is individually owned, this property is in complete disarray and obviously utilized only to funnel money. I would spend the extra $500 and head a little further onto the island and choose another resort.

Facility grounds very clean, friendly staff, felt safe there. Shuttle to beach was very helpful after long days in the sun. Hot tub was too hot and not monitored by staff...children playing in it and wanted a place to relax. After heavy rains some areas have deep puddles that need to be swept in the common walkways. Stairwells need some repair.

This was a nice resort to stay for a week. Once we figured out the lay of the land and how things worked...Since each unit is individually owned - it really does make a difference what unit you are in. Ours was very nice and recently remodeled - we didn't have much of a view (building 2 - but it was still nice) and convenient to a lot of the island. It was pretty quiet for most of the week until the end when we had some loud neighbors. The parking did get a little tight at times. I do wish there was a loading/unloading area close to the elevators - but they did have carts available which we didn't have a problem getting. The main common areas are very clean and they do have a lot of rules in place to keep it nice. The main pool is nice - but VERY crowded and many times we could not get a chair. The pool at building 4 is too far away and the indoor pool didn't appeal to us. But, we had a nice time and the shuttle to the beach was very convenient. My only complaint is the shuttle needs to run continuous throughout the day - it stops from 12:00 - 1:30 which was the time we wanted to return each day... all in all a nice resort just make sure you get a nice unit!
