Two things I could not understand:
1) why Sonesta has a room for accepting pets but have carpet on the floor instead of hardwwod or ceramic tile. We entered our room with a pee spot on carpet floor right at the entrance. We communicated that to reception but they found that to be normal. We didn't understand that. Well, we're not coming back.
2) How can Sonesta call itself "pet-friendly hotel"if they charged us $200.00 for pet fee for two nights (we found that to be ridiculous and they should not advertise themselves as pet friendly but only as "we accept pets" because the fee is 10 times higher at Sonesta than at Best Western.

We were very excited to have a weekend trip to Sonesta with my husband and 2 boys for their first vacation trip! Things changed very quickly once we arrived. I hotel was being renovated and i had ZERO notice about this before we arrived. Also, the front desk lady said they weren't renovating at this time but we heard banging the entire time from our room. At check in, i had to ask where the pool, beach, any events were happening. She didn't. give me any information on anything. Also, i booked a beach view and got a view of trees. The front desk lady said that was a beach view but i had no view of anything. After someone reached out to me they said the room wasn't named right and offered to move me to a beach view for our last night. As everyone knows moving all our stuff with 2 kids is not an option so i declined. She did offer me a SMALL discount of breakfast but after all of these issues we decided just to go home. I let her know and all she said was have a great day. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. Pay the extra to stay at a Marriott where you pay the same price for breakfast included, events included, and you actually get an ocean view.

Many rooms are under construction. We paid full price, drove from a different state, and ended up next to two rooms being renovated. We were given no warning. Spent the day out in the sun just to return to a room where we couldn't relax or sleep due to hammering and banging that could be heard through the paper thin walls. The next morning, we woke up to a buzz saw at 8 am. We called the front desk to speak to the manager multiple times, and they would not get on the phone. The poor front desk person could do nothing but apologize because the manager was hiding from the situation. I escalated to customer service and only then received an email from the manager, and there was still no gesture for spending well over $300 a night to stay somewhere we couldn't rest.

This is a very nice property. I understand that my stay was during off season, when updates are made to the property, so I attribute the noise to that.

I was not informed by any person or ******* that the hotel was undergoing construction work. I came for a much needed peaceful get away and the construction noise started at 7am and did stop til 8pm. The property stated there were 3 restaurants. 1 was open for breakfast and you could get drinks and bar food after 4pm. At the bar. There was no transportation to any where. Needed to call an Uber . The Staff in the Restaurant were wonderful. The owners of the gift shop were very kind and funny. These who worked the bar were pleasant and friendly. The spa saved the day on 2 separate occasions.

This was a lovely place to stay. Jason at Cane Sugar restaurant by the pool was a great server. Cleaning staff were helpful and friendly. Front desk folks very interactive. Fire pits and hammocks are a nice touch. I would definitely recommend it and would return.

We booked and prepaid for an executive suite (900 sq ft.) In addition we received two emails within two days of arrival offering an upgrade for an even bigger room. Upon arrival we learned that there were NO SUITES available due to construction that began long before we reserved. Instead we were put on a regular hotel room. Vanessa the manager was very nice and agreed to reduce the amount we paid and offered us some other benefits, which is all she could do. This was not the staffs fault, it was just wrong that this hotel chain is selling rooms that they dont have available. BEWARE BUYER of SONESTA

I did not stay at the resort. I just went to the spa for a massage. The massage was fine. At the end, I gave my masseur a tip. After receiving it he said that they automatically took a 20% gratuity but everything extra is appreciated. I had not been informed that they were adding a 20% gratuity. I could hardly then ask for my tip back at that point. Should have been advised earlier.
