Hindagala Hotels with Airport pickup service

The hotel itself and its facilities are fantastic. The rooms are nice and the food is absolutely superb. Unfortunately the service in the restaurant was really poor, which made this stay absolutely unpleasant. We were given dirty table cloths (and they didn’t want to replace it after asking for it), our table was given to someone else while we were at the buffet, we had to order drinks several times until finally served, we were given the bill to sign while still eating the main dish (not even dessert) and actually wanted to order more drinks, after being seated, we had to wait min 10 min to place orders for drinks or get silverware etc. From a 5* hotel we definitely expected something better. This is the only hotel during our trip, where we experienced bad service. which is a pity, as otherwise the hotel is really nice. We would not book it again.

Facilities: Not bad Hygiene: clean Environment: very quiet Service: Very attentive. The only bad thing is that they do not have 24-hour front desk service. If you book late at night, it is easy to find someone, and you can’t get through when you call.

The room was clean and comfortable. Sitting in the lobby and around the swimming pool is very comfortable, you can be in a daze all day long! The surrounding environment is very good. There is a lake next to the hotel and a small hill opposite. Wake up in the morning and listen to the birds singing, by the way, there are many crows here😄

The room and the balcony were huge, and the location was perfect for exploring Kandy and Kandy Lake. There is also a great bar/restaurant within walking distances called the Hideout. Disliked · While the room overlooks Kandy Lake, it also overlooks the ring road surrounding the lake, which is comparable to the M25, with less rules and more horns, so the rooms can be pretty noisy. Also, during our stay construction work would start outside of the room around 10PM and stop around 4am, so we did not get much sleep during our stay, although I appreciate that the hotel couldn't help this and were very apologetic.

The hotel is actually a family hotel, not far from the city, but on the mountain. The hotel room is large and clean, with a large balcony, the bed is very comfortable, and the bathroom is very good. The only problem is that there is no dry and wet separation. The breakfast at the hotel is quite satisfactory, with fruit, bread, jam and butter. There are many choices for dinner and the taste is also good. The most noteworthy thing is the service. Both the boss and the employees are very enthusiastic and always smile.

Overall it’s a great experience. The front office, housekeeping and the butler service offered was excellent. Was a little disappointed with the lack of knowledge with the culinary and service staff of meeting dietary needs. My wife is celiac and although the executive chef try to do his best, fell short as compared to other hotels we stayed during our travel to Sri Lanka.

This hotel is on the mountain. There are many hotels on the mountain in Kandy. The road is very narrow. The driver took the wrong turn several times at night and finally arrived. The welcome candy at the door was not very tasty. We arrived too late and the children were exhausted. We didn't pay much attention to the room, but it was quite clean and the price was very affordable. The breakfast the next day was also rich in variety. There were many crows outside. We took breakfast and ate it outside. The crows came and took away a piece of bread. We were shocked.

When I opened the room, there was a musty smell. Since it was a view room with a curtain wall on the exterior, the windows could not be opened. The air conditioner had to be turned on at full power for half an hour before the musty smell gradually dissipated. The location is not far from the top of the mountain, far away from Kandy Lake, and the lake cannot be seen from the rooftop observation deck. The facilities are okay, the service attitude is okay, and the food tastes great. Overall not recommended.

Originally booked for one night, however on arrival I was unwell. Chulanka could not of been more helpful. He arranged transport to the hospital and went with us and stayed until he knew what was wrong. He then returned three hours later to collect us and take us back to Red Hill. He had prepared chicken soup especially for me, although no appetite it was lovely and very welcome. In Addition he prepared another meal for my travelling companion. We decided to stay another day to rest and were looked after by Chulanka and his staff. They went out of their way to ensure I had everything needed preparing tea to drink and king coconut for health !!! We appreciated the kindness of both Chulanka and his staff and would recommend Red Hill Kandy for its hospitality, kindness and food. Fantastic views of Kandy for the bedroom not to be missed, as well as comfortable and welcoming.
