Hali Country Hotel

Clean. Thought it was way overpriced. Room was plain.

Such a peaceful location with baaing sheep and cawing birds between water and mountains just 11 minutes to the glacier lagoon. We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage, a picturesque yellow home on the water, and our grown kids had a double room in building 2a near by. The restaurant served delicious local fish and lamb (and more), and the museum was both interesting and amusing. I would highly recommend this hotel on your Ring Road adventure.

We had the best at Hali country cottage! The cottage was impeccably clean and very homely. It was nicely heated upon arrival and we all loved the heated floors! The complementary breakfast was great with alot of options. We had dinner at the Hali restaurant and everything was amazing, especially the cod! Check in was easy and everyone who worked there was super nice and friendly. It is only a 10 mins drive to the diamond beach and jokulsarlon lagoon. Highly recommend the cottage if you’re visiting the area.

The hotel is situated around 15mins north of Jokursalon lagoon. The location is next to the sea and we also had the sea view from our room that was totally frozen, what an amazing experience to have a drink in the room watching the peaceful frozen sea. The staff is friendly , check in and out was in seconds. The main building with rooms was a bit away from the reception/restaurant building, nice 2 mins walk but could get wet if raining. The rooms were clean but very basic as this is the hotel where we paid the most but felt didn’t get full value to our money but regardless had a comfortable stay. We had dinner in the hotel and was delicious, the breakfast also has a decent spread like all other hotels of similar standard. There was free coffee facility in the lounge area 24/7, shower room with decent amenities

Hali Country Hotel and the team are just wonderful we stayed for 2 nights. There is also a museum of the local area and local author. Reception have a Northern Lights monitoring service on a screen and we also had our own apps and were fortunate enough to capture the Northern lights on our cameras dancing in the sky. It's a great position as there isn't much light pollution - the properties at the hotel do have lights on but you can easily move to a darker area near by as they own the land on either side. Rooms The accommodation was great too - we stayed in the top apartment of the yellow house which had 2 bedrooms, bathroom and well equiped kitchen, dining, lounge area. Nearby activities Would highly recommend staying hear as it's near Diamond Beach and the Glacier Lake plus it's super convenient for Glacier Adventures (which we joined for a day trip too) Food & drinks The restaurant for dinner has a great menu and wine list - highly recommend all the local lamb produce - we ate most of the lamb dishes over 2 nights between 2 of us. Breakfast has lots to offer and alternative milks. Noteworthy details Do bring all the milk, food, and snacks for lunch (and lunch bags) that you need as there are no local shops anywhere near by. Beautiful, friendly staff, great food!

Breakfast is so good. We loved the homemade lamb sashimi. The only complain is that there is no heater and the floor heating did not work the whole night. The staff told us it should work just wait. but no it did not. The room was cold. Also the wall is a bit thin. Can hear voices from the hallway and the other room.
