Shangri-La Hotel Hohhot

This is an older five-star hotel, so the facilities are a bit dated, and they still follow a more traditional service model, like requiring a deposit upon check-in (which was only returned an hour and a half after I checked out – that's a bit slow for room inspection!). However, the overall service is quite good. For example, after booking, they recommended a room that met my preferences (very quiet, no noise from neighboring doors opening or closing, morning or night). They even came to the executive lounge after check-in to ask about my experience. Being an established five-star hotel, the attention to detail in their service is indeed impressive and truly makes an impression. However, I have to add one more thing: the highest form of service is not to disturb. When I had the 'do not disturb' light on continuously, calling me to ask about this and that is, in fact, a disturbance, isn't it? Of course, I understand that the staff members have good intentions, wondering why my room wasn't being cleaned, perhaps thinking they'd forgotten, or that I might need the service, right? But you have to understand, adults who need service will ask for it proactively. The best service is actually not to disturb; that's the most appropriate approach. And of course, even better service would be to remember the customer's personalized needs, and one of those needs is often not to be disturbed. On a side note, while the selection in the executive lounge is simple, it's sufficient. The staff there are very attentive and thoughtful, and the lounge view is beautiful – I couldn't get enough of it. I also accidentally discovered that they now have a 'book two nights, get one free' offer, which is even better value than the two-night consecutive stay package on Ctrip….

Excellent, as expected from Shangri-La. The stay was warm and comfortable. I particularly liked the layout of the room and bathroom. The bathtub is inside the shower area, so you can rinse off immediately after a bath without the risk of slipping on spilled water.

Check-in for this reservation was smooth. The front desk staff this time listened carefully to our request and helped us switch to a room on the same floor. They were very professional and considerate of guests, which was excellent.

The cleanliness of this hotel was quite disappointing. While its age played a part, the housekeeping really let down a loyal Shangri-La fan like myself. Even though the duty manager did their best to appease and resolve the issue, I still feel compelled to leave an honest review, hoping they'll improve their cleanliness in the future. Shangri-La shouldn't let its reputation slide. On a positive note, the special breakfast, especially the siu mai, deserves high praise.

I've always wanted to stay at the Shangri-La Hotel in Hohhot, and this time I finally had the chance. I moved here from another five-star hotel. Comparing the two, the Shangri-La definitely comes out on top; I'm very satisfied with both the room maintenance and cleanliness. The Executive Lounge is truly exceptional. The hotel breakfast is incredibly rich, and you can enjoy unlimited lamb shumai, which I had to rush to get at the previous hotel. The Shangri-La Hohhot is genuinely excellent! It'll be my first choice next time too.

Convenient location with many great restaurants nearby. The welcome fruit was a nice, thoughtful touch.

This is an established star-rated hotel with an impressive exterior and a beautiful lobby. The location is excellent, right in the city center. Just a few minutes' walk to the right brings you to MixC City, where you can find everything for dining, entertainment, and shopping. There's both above-ground and underground parking, making it very convenient if you're driving. The front desk staff, especially one of the young men, provided excellent service. Check-in was quick, and he even proactively asked if I was driving so he could register my license plate for free in-and-out access. The room was spacious, the hardware facilities were well-maintained, and the hygiene was exceptional. Daily cleaning was also very prompt. The breakfast selection was incredibly rich, featuring Inner Mongolian specialties like shaomai, milk tea, and lamb offal soup, along with a variety of fresh and delicious fruits and vegetables. Overall, I'm very satisfied.
