We ordered a cream tea and after quite a while of waiting, the scones arrived completely frozen in the middle. We sent them back and waited again. Whilst waiting, we realized that the cream smelled very sour and must have run bad a while ago, so we sent that that back as well. The waitress brought back the reheated scones (which were the same scones that we sent back and had been in contact with the bad cream already) and new cream. The new cream smelled and tasted fine and the scones were not frozen anymore but very dry. All in all a disappointing experience. I am very curious for the reply of the hotel, as apparently they insult every costumer, that gives a 1 star review, but I can't imagine how they are going to justify bad cream and frozen scones.

This was our second visit to Combe House & it didn’t disappoint. The greeting at check-in was warm and friendly, in fact the staff throughout our stay were very friendly & efficient. Our rooms were beautifully decorated & comfortable & the food was as good as we remembered it on our previous visit. The roast beef on Sunday was very tender & served with a good selection of vegetables & my husband’s roast pork came with a good serving of crackling. I love a hotel breakfast & Combe House serves a good continental selection including cereals, pastries, fruit, ham, cheese & toast. Our package included a cooked breakfast & the Eggs Florentine was delicious. It is often a risk returning to a venue you loved the first time but I would definitely return to Combe House again. Gareth & his staff do a great job looking after their guests.

We have just returned from a short break in this charming old hotel which nestles in a secluded and peaceful corner of the Quantock hills. The setting is idyllic but what made this so enjoyable was not the local nature, as gorgeous and irresistible as it was, but the welcome and hospitality that this hotel provided. From the moment we arrived all staff members went out of their way to ensure our stay was successful - and they succeeded! Every detail was perfect from the beautifully appointed rooms to the excellent F&B offering both at breakfast and dinner. A big “thank you” to Gareth and his team from our small group - we plan to return!

Did a travel zoo deal to this Hotel. A splendid location and set in a wooded valley and the history of the building is interesting dating back to the 1600’s. If you like walking some stunning views. The warmth of the friendliness of staff was amazing and the meals were excellent. Good choice and extremely well presented. Breakfast was good too. Our room was immaculate. It was a pleasure to stay here. The best fish and chips we have ever had. It is lovely to find a Hotel where they care about their guests. It is 8 miles to get to Watchet where you can see the steam train and 15 miles to Minehead if you want the seaside. If you want a great break would highly recommend you stay here, you won’t be disappointed.

The hotel was full of character, charm and extremely welcoming. Our room was perfect and was very clean and comfortable. The staff upon our welcome, right through to our goodbye were very helpful and polite. We'd also like to say a specific thank you to the lady on Reception on Tuesday morning who helped us to arrange booking a taxi! The lack of phone signal was actually a welcome benefit, allowing us to 'switch off' and enjoy the surrounding countryside, which even on a rainy Tuesday was beautiful. Thank you so much again for your hospitality and making us feel so welcome!

We have just returned from a really lovely break in this super hotel. We went on the Travelzoo deal but would happily return without an offer. Our room was fairly compact but beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable and warm. The public rooms are super with a lovely atmosphere - residents mingled in the lounge after dinner ( some with their dogs) and it made the evenings very pleasant. We also used the lounge to relax on the return from walks and found it very comfortable and welcoming. The staff were helpful and friendly and , because it’s such as small hotel, knew what room you were in which was nice when ordering extras. The food was really excellent. The breakfasts were plentiful and the ingredients clearly top quality. The evening meals were equally good - we had the roast on the Sunday night which was superb. There are lots of walks from the hotel itself which is great. One note of caution - there are some large stones lining the left hand side of the drive and we caught our car on the, whilst avoiding a vehicle parked outside the hotel. Not the hotels fault whatsoever but we did end up with quite a bit of damage. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to this hotel and congratulate it on providing such a lovely experience.

Excellent support for my elderly parents, when we stayed at the hotel. Staff very attentive and friendly. Cosy hotel with wood burner, fabulous evening meal and superb breakfast. Bedrooms all had character. Easy access to coast and Dunster Castle.

We have just returned from a wonderful couple of days at this great hotel. Brilliant value with the Travelzoo offer but we would return in a flash without the offer. Room was very comfortable, staff were great and very professional and we loved the food especially the scallop starter! Delicious lemon posset pud too! Very tasteful and comfortable public rooms. Lots of great walks locally and the coast is close. Great hotel and we would love to return.

Needed a stay for 1 night only near the North Devon border. Booked this via booking. com. The hotel sits in a really lush small valley. Good size car park tucked beside. The hotel has been lovingly renovated. We were met by a very welcoming lady on reception who gave us lots of detail. Our room was very homely, clean nicely decorated with a super king bed and large ensuite. Had dinner in restaurant. The food was of a very high standard and the young waitress serving was lovely, helpful and friendly. Great breakfast too. A really good quite place to stay tucked away.
