The Windmill

We have been coming here on and off for 30 tears for lunch. Sadly our last visit the meal was not of a high standard. The lamb with ricotta was Sadly lacking flavour and the schnitzel was over cooked and lacked flavour. Pudding was lovely. We were both disappointed and won't be returning. Even if we had said anything at the time, there was nothing else we liked on the menu, they had run out of the pie and falafel. There must be a different chef as the menu's before were varied and cooked well and not so expensive.

The food took forever when it did arrive I was far from impressed. Staff seemed to just be having a laugh Wouldn’t be going back

Many factors about the position of the room and poor maintenance made for an unpleasant stay. Kitchen playing loud music and shouting until it closed and then kitchen deliveries early morning. Breakfast also not great, undercooked egg whites and massive portion of dry granola and the smallest amount of yogurt to go with it. All in all not good, fed this back to management via email and heard nothing, clearly not very bothered about customer service. Won’t return.

Great location in a beautiful village. Easy parking. Nicely furnished rooms and really friendly staff. Great pub menu and great breakfast!

A wonderful place to stay, home away from home, I couldn’t recommend more.

We had been looking forward to our visit to The Windmill, after a day out playing cricket. Unfortunately the overwhelming feeling when we left was one of disappointment. We visited on “Steak Night’ but chose to eat from the main menu. Instead of a starter we chose to have bread from the nibbles selection. However our main courses arrived without any sight of it - so we did without. Our waiter told us that ‘We are baking it fresh for you’. Obviously a nonsensical thing to do - you want your nibbles with your drinks - not to wait for bread to be baked! One can only assume that they had not made enough for the evening. And if they had no bread ready they could have told us and we would have ordered something else. The main courses (fish and chips and sea bream) were well cooked, although not exceptional. We would have had a pudding but the dessert menu was very disappointing - fine if you like fruit (or cheese and biscuits) but there were no choices involving chocolate in any form or any traditional puddings (like sticky toffee pudding for example). So my wife just had one scoop of vanilla ice cream - hardly celebratory fare. We were thinking of coming as a large family group - but after this experience we won’t be back.
