Fairfield Inn & Suites Hollister

This is unacceptable. Earlier this afternoon prior to my arrival, front desk called me to ask me to change my room from double queen to master bed.  I said sure.  Ok , that was fine. I finally arrive to the hotel around 4:30p and notice the bathroom sink doesn’t drain at all.  Front desk was notified and said they’d send someone asap.  We waited and nobody showed so we went to dinner.   We came back later and noticed the drain still doesn’t work.  I asked the front desk and said the serviceman said they fixed it but it will drain slowly still.  Well, I tested it and it still didn’t drain at all. I immediately go back downstairs and the Front desk man also said there’s no room available to move me to, nor can they put me in another hotel for the night. By the way, I used a marriot bonvoy free room award certificate for tonight and expect it to be credited it back/ returned to my account asap. Why call to switch my room prior to arrival to a non-working bathroom? So shady. Why tell me it was fixed when it wasn’t? Why lie? This is bad for Marriot Bonvoy. Obviously we left and went elsewhere for the night. And we’ll never come back to this hotel. Full disclosure: I’ve been a marriot bonvoy/starwood member for at least 16 years and I write both good and bad reviews of all hotel chains on different online review platforms.

This is a clean, comfortable place. Nothing special, except the rates which are relatively high because there are so few hotel rooms in Hollister. Our first room reeked of cigarette smoke but they moved us to another one w/o any push back. If you are staying in Hollister, this is probably your best bet.

Stayed at the Hollister Fairfield Inn for 3 nights and they do charge a deposit of $20 a day but got it back. The breakfast was good and something different each day made it worth eating there. The rooms were very cleaned and looked remodeled. The walls were thin and the first day moved rooms because the neighbors where yelling a lot. If a runner, I made a 3 & 4 mile course from the hotel on Garmin. Give it a try! If I come back to this area, I would stay here again.

Friendly staff, though not very knowledgeable concerning local attractions and restaurants. Large enough rooms. Ample parking space. Well equipped fitness center, small indoor pool. Good shower. Above average free hot breakfast. Some service problems e.g. the water tap in the bathroom didn’t function properly and the television set in the room did not work.

This hotel is progressively declined over the years. The good news, there's a shiny new Holiday inn Express 50 ft away. That's where I'll be staying next time. No housekeeping service. Management says it's a new policy to prevent COVID-19 exposure. If they wanted to prevent COVID-19 exposure, everyone would wear masks. Eliminating housekeeping is simply a cost-cutting measure exploiting the COVID-19 pandemic. Warm water, not hot water in the shower. Reported it to management. They did nothing. Back doors of the hotel, giving access to the back parking lot, broken the entire stay. There's a insulting sign hanging on the back of the hotel room door suggesting they might charge $999.99 for this hotel room.

Our flight was delayed at the airport so we didn’t get in until midnight. I called ahead just to give them a heads up. When we arrived, Shannon gave us a warm greeting. Her cheerful and friendly demeanor immediately made us feel welcome; her smile made up for the difficult travel and rain. I wish more businesses had people as positive as Shannon. Our room was comfortable, though we did need more coffee, which Shannon provided immediately. The overall stay was pleasant, good breakfast, quiet room and comfortable beds. Shannon made all the difference from a 4-star to 5-star stay.

Spacious room, we were upgraded to a suite for the 2 nights we stayed. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was included, hot and cold options available, your average Fairfield buffet - could have done with a waffle maker but not bad. Reception staff were nice. Location is slightly isolated. Decent overall.

DO NOT STAY HERE, especially in room 302. The Fairfield Marriott in Hollister, CA should only get a 2.0 rating. We don't know how they could possible give it higher ratings. We stayed in May of '22 and here are the reasons I will never stay at a Marriot again, seriously. 1. At night there is car racing on the dead end road next to hotel in front of our room. 2. The tv and internet do not work! 3. There is a continuous vibration/hum from the condenser for the ac or icemaker above room 302. 4. The breakfast would delight a 6 year-old with the variety of white sugar cereals. The "hot" breakfast they advertise consists of a Jimmy Dean sausage sandwich that is freezer burned and microwaved, and microwaved waffles if you're still hungry. 5. There is MAJOR construction of a huge building right across the street. 6. I was given a receipt for $398 but my credit card was charge $440. I called about this issue however the receptionist told me I would have to wait for the incidentals "to clear" and if they didn't, I should call her. I heard another gentlemen complaining while we were checking out that he was also charged for several "incidentals" he knew nothing about. 7. At 10pm, 6 motorcycles arrived and parked under the window to our room. They raced around the parking area to make sure everyone in the hotel knew they were there. Then they were given rooms right around us and stayed up all night being obnoxious. COULD THIS GET ANY WORSE?!

After a long 12 hour day of work, I began checking in at the front desk only to realize I had booked the wrong dates for my stay. I used a 3rd party site, and if you have ever done that, you know how much of a pain it can be to have any complications with a reservation. By speaking with Holly at the front desk, she navigated me (a grumpy customer) through this headache with poise and as a true professional. She took the time to speak with a 3rd party representative and straightened out the situation perfectly and in a fraction of the time that I expected it to take. The rooms were extremely clean and very comfortable. I travel several days a week and will choose to stay at these hotels whenever feasible. This experience could have ruined my night given that there is only so much time I have between getting off work and going to sleep in anticipation of another long day of work. Thanks to Holly and the high bar they must set at this establishment, I had a great experience!
