A foreign friend came to Hong Kong for a trip and wanted to take her to a place that not many people knew about, so she chose the Tai O Heritage Hotel, which was once the first Marine Police Station on Lantau Island.
There are not many rooms here. We stayed for one night on a Monday and there were not many tourists, so there was no feeling of crowding.
I booked a suite upstairs for a friend, which was the former Marine Police Officer's residence, and I stayed in a cheaper room downstairs. The place has been restored very well, retaining the colonial style of the early 20th century. My friend said it felt like traveling back in time to the stories of the British novelist Somerset Maugham.
All reviews are full marks, including the location, because although some people may find the transportation a bit inconvenient, the beautiful scenery more than makes up for it.
highly recommended!
