Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach

The location was great. The aquarium was captivating. Breakfast was delicious. The pool was clean. The view was just okay.

The sea view was lovely, and the bedding and facilities were great. However, the pool water was too cold, and it seemed like the air conditioning hadn't been cleaned.

We stayed in an ocean view room. It was very close to the sea, and the view from the lanai was absolutely stunning. I think it was one of the ocean view rooms with the best views, being so close to the ocean. I'm very grateful that we were allocated this particular room. The housekeeping staff were also very friendly and pleasant, which made our stay enjoyable. The location was also excellent, close to the Duke Kahanamoku statue in the heart of Waikiki. The only downsides were that there was no explanation about the resort points we were supposed to receive as part of our stay. Also, we booked three rooms for six people, but due to their system, we could only process payment for one room at a time. This meant I couldn't use the same credit card for the second room and had to scramble. I'd recommend bringing enough credit cards for each room you book. These two minor issues were a bit disappointing, so I deducted one star from the service rating.

I've stayed at three hotels in Hawaii, and this one was the cleanest. The room size was a bit smaller compared to other hotels, but it was fine. Since it was Christmas, they were giving out hot chocolate in the lobby, which was delicious. It's very close to the beach, and the pool is nice and pretty, but for beach equipment rentals, you have to go to a place quite a distance away, not the hotel itself. That was a bit inconvenient. Also, the pool water was a little dirty. Using the washing machine here was great, as it was $3 compared to $6 at Marriott. When I checked in, Japanese staff helped me, but I was a bit disappointed that they kept talking to each other in Japanese and didn't provide enough information about using the hotel facilities.

This hotel is just okay, nothing really stands out except for its proximity to the beach. It was super crowded because of the upcoming Christmas holidays, and the staff were clearly overwhelmed. I even had a tip ready but couldn't hand it over; you pretty much had to do everything yourself. 🥲
