Room was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Good transportation options, although if coming in from Tuesday Island by ferry it would be easy to walk to the hotel assuming that you didn’t have a lot of bags. Pub and restaurant onsite for lunch and dinner, food was excellent.

The hotel is adequate but I thought very expensive for what it was compared to other remote locations. The room I had was a superior king suite so I was expecting more. The room was very dated and the old air conditioner very noisy. For a self rated 4 star property I would have expected at least a hairdryer as they did have a pool but noway to dry long thick hair. The most annoying thing was the room was very hot and only one fixed key which you needed to turn the a/c on. When I went for a meal and removed the key and came back and the room was stifling hot again. The hotel adjacent had nice pub food.

My partner and I had dinner tonight at the Wongai Hotel restaurant and we ate the best roast lamb meal! I've been cooking family roasts all my life and so it was a real pleasure to eat an amazing home cooked lamb roast, everything was perfect down to the tasty gravy. Thank you so much, our compliments to the chef! Get in quick as this chef is leaving in 3 weeks!!!

A pilot-friendly place to stay, with easily-arranged transfers to/from the airport. We had the detached cabins which were fine, quiet and cool. Pub, pool and meals available on-site - all you really need in a small town. Friendly staff too. No need to stay on TI - either way there’s a ferry involved so why the rush to get yourself and your bags over there? Have stayed here before, will do so again :)

Good hotel for such a remote location. The cabin style rooms are cute, quiet and clean if a bit basic. Air con plus ceiling fan keeps them cool. Very friendly staff. Bar and restaurant for dinner with "pub" food, big portions and reasonable prices considering the remoteness, drinks are cheap. An included continental breakfast is provided in the room. There is wifi but it often disconnects, but you can also pickup a 4G signal. It doesn't look much from the front of the property but the pool and garden area are lovely. Short walk to the ferry to Thursday Island, and a local supermarket is around the corner. Easy airport transfers to.

The beds are to soft. I got up in the morning with a bad back and iv had to go to the chiropractic three times to get my back right not happy Jan
