Mint House Houston - Medical Center

The only real advantage of staying at Locale Medical Center short-term is its proximity to the MD Anderson Medical Center. There are no on-site staff to assist with check-in, and the process itself is confusing. Guests receive multiple codes via text on the day of arrival—one for the entrance door, another for the kiosk to retrieve a key fob, and yet another for apartment access. Additionally, you must register your vehicle in advance or risk being towed, so it's essential to check your email and follow the instructions carefully. There are extra charges for early check-in and daily parking. Unfortunately, there are no restaurants or grocery stores within walking distance, so driving is necessary. The apartment was not clean upon arrival. Air vents were dusty, the faux wood flooring was worn and peeling, and the furniture looked outdated and in need of replacement. Kitchen appliances, cookware, and utensils appeared old and not well-maintained. The shower curtain liner had mold and soap scum, clearly needing replacement. While the building does offer amenities like a pool, gym, lounge, and coworking space, the atmosphere feels cold and unwelcoming. Given the cost of staying here, there are definitely better accommodations in the area than Locale Medical Center.

Check in was very difficult. It was very hard to even find the building since the Locale name is not on the building. Front desk of apartment was of no help! There are no facilities to eat. The room design was good and the views were very good. Lots of light. The furniture was worse than one would expect in a college dorm and was very worn and unkempt. The carpets were disgustingly dirty and one would not want to walk barefooted on them. The couch was worn and dirty. The bathroom linens were scanty and worn. The walk to MD Anderson is not short and in warm weather would be difficult. Overall, I don't recommend this facility unless the management makes major upgrades and purchases new furniture, linens and cleans or preferably replaces the carpet. Easier and user friendly access would help as well

I asked for an early check in a day or so before my arrival and was told wait til the day of check in. The day of check in I kept asking about an early check in and was told to call every few hours around noon I was informed I won’t be able to check in early. The day before check out I asked for a late check out and was told they’ll confirm in the morning before check out at 11 I was awaken by house keeping and I informed them of my late check out request. I began to get ready to just check out being that I know was very unsatisfied with communication between myself and the staff. While getting ready someone from the property came to the room and was very rude stating do I know what time it is it’s 1130 and I need to be out by 12 I tried to inform him of my request on yesterday regarding my check out and he just brushed it off
