Hyatt House Houston Galleria

I stayed here with a friend. We're both Hyatt Globalists but stayed under his name as I already have 77 nights for the year. None the less, I felt the need to review. While the actual sleep was ok (sheets meh), the property overall is pretty brutal. The front desk phone line is down, one of two elevators are broken (the one near our room of course), the laundry room flooded and not available, and the wifi medium to not great at best. The Airplay/Chromecast feature for the tvs, forget it. The reason I am giving it two stars are that its not too expensive, so if you just need a sleep, it'll do if you don't need good wifi and can manage stairs. With as many things being broken as they were, it didn't seem like they were urgently trying to fix any of them. Oh, and also, the signage!! In the garage, each floor says welcome but none suggest which floor to use to enter the building. The phone by the door makes you think you may be calling the front desk based on one sign, the other says you'll be calling emergency services. Same for the stairs, I thought I was using the right door based on competing signs, but nope, I set off the emergency alarm. The property just seems like it doesn't really care.

Price was economical for the all-suite room and included breakfast. Hotel needs maintenance - elevator did not work and required long walks. The snack area was very comprehensive and appreciated.

The rooms were spacious! I loved that the bedroom was in a separate room, and the sitting room had a sectional couch. The mini kitchen was a plus. I wish all hotels had this same floor plan. It was very close to restaurants. Surprisingly, the traffic wasn’t bad. The price for the one-bedroom suite was so reasonable. I was grateful that the place felt clean. I don’t know what was going on that night, but there were a lot of noises in the middle of the night. It was unfortunate, but petty.

There was not a single place in that hotel that was not dirty: restrooms at the reception, kitchen and tables, corridor, elevator, stairs, parking. One of the two elevators was out of service as well as the washing machine. The room had a vibration on and off that we could not find where it was coming from. The AC was loud. The safe was out of battery. The "housekeeping" was mediocre, she only changed the towels and half made the bed plus I had to deal with the lady complaining about how much work she has. The only positive comment I have, is for the young lady at the reception. My respect and consideration to her because I cannot imagine a more depressing place to work than that dirty hotel.

I honestly can't even believe this is a Hyatt. From the gangs of young people roaming the parking lot to the scary parking garage, to the halls and the filthy carpet and sofa, it was just awful. It used to be nice, but needs to be remodeled. I arrived late with jet lag or I'd have just left. No hot water, housekeeping was great, comfy clean bed, but I wouldn't walk on that 20 year old carpet without my shoes or sit on the sofa, and the air vents were gross. It does not seem like a safe place either. I'll never go back or recommend this dump AND am not likely to ever book a Hyatt House again. The name obviously means NOTHING.

This property is poorly managed with many amenities out of service. Very disappointing with this Hyatt House. It did not meet basic Hyatt House standards. It’s outdated and poorly maintained and managed. The room is not clean, carpet and sofa is very dirty. Stains on walls and doors. Several bathroom tiles are cracks, bathroom sink and AC unit make loud noises, unable to have a good quality sleep and rest. It charges hefty $25 per day parking fee and not worth the value. Very disappointed and felt unpleasant. Will never stay here again.
