Park Royal Homestay Club Cala Puerto Rico

Located in a huge gated condo complex, Club Cana is located by a small marina. Two BR unit comfortable and fairly well equipped. TV in main room had limited access to channels. There are many stairs and a walk up hill to complex with about 6 restaurants and a small grocery. Main shopping is about 8 miles away. There are 2 small pools (one closed) and no beach. Personnel helpful and responded to attention quickly. Unit clean with 1 cleaning session during week. Washing machines helpful. Unless you pay for gated parking, difficult to fine space.

Love the room we we where given, it had kitchen and laundry. Peaceful location, enven though they are remodeling.

This resort is in a gated community. There are golf courses, tennis courts and a nice beach nearby. Car is a must have in order to explore other areas of Puerto Rico. The rainforest is worth a visit but the entrance is about a one-hour drive away. There are several restaurants and a convenience store within walking distance of the resort. Resort has activities but the schedule is subject to change without notice.

We just returned from a week stay at Club Cala, Puerto Rico. Had an amazing time! Not downplaying the negative reviews I read before we went that caused concern after we had booked, but our stay was wonderful!! We’ve been traveling through RCI for 36 years and this was one of my favourite places we’ve stayed through them. I felt that we were provided the amenities to create for ourselves, a memorable vacation. Had a two bedroom condo for my Husband and I and our adult Son and his Girlfriend. We had a Marina view which was great, and enjoyed time spent out on the big terrace. Condo was well equipped, and we did a lot of meals in there. We bought some disposable type containers for cooking in the oven but felt we were able to cook pretty much everything with what was provided. The beach was great-yes there was sea**** on it-but it’s the ocean! Loved the naturalness of it-amazing place to unwind! Pool was wonderful too-we were a bit disappointed that the beach attendant who drilled the holes for the umbrellas and gave us the chairs (very nice fella) was not there on Mondays and Tuesdays-this forced us to seek out the pool-which was a good thing. When the beach attendant was back Wednesday, we did beach mornings and pool in the afternoon! We bartenders were efficient and nice-Pool Hut guy was super! There were negative mentions in past reviews about the grounds being uneven and unsafe-this is a hilly area, where you can go from grass to sidewalk to street-not unsafe if you watch where you are going! I bought flashlights for my family and we lit up our path-and we walked all over Palma Del Mar!! Plus the free shuttle service anywhere in Palma Del Mar was a great option if you were concerned about walking in the evening, had health issues or concerns, or just didn’t feel like walking. Th we drivers were all very nice. Having the open air Mall up the small hill near the pool was great! Good restaurants, and the Grocery Store had pretty much anything you needed and the lady that ran it was super! Loved Brasas restaurant snd view, and the restaurant Pescateria was excellent food and amazing views and ambiance. Loved the grounds of Club Cala and Palma Del Mar-well maintained and and lovely! So, we really loved this resort! A few stand out people that worked there-Giovanny was an excellent person to have at checkin-business like and hospitable as well as very pleasant and friendly!! Carla in the office was very nice too! Housekeepers were excellent. Francisco in security was very friendly and helpful-always a warm hello and smile! The guy who gave us our wristbands was very nice. And I enjoyed observing Kevin in security-he was the young man who kept track of who was next to go into the office to checkin, and who patrolled that area and the pool area as well. Good service and clean so far. The wifi has been out since we arrived on Friday. When we arrived at 1:30 am there were teens all over in golf carts and people revving their car engines. The beds are moderately comfortable. Lacking pillow choices and the AC has separate controls for each room which is nice. There is free parking in a **** and dirt lot. The pool area is being refurbished. Coffee shop near pool is good. Swim up pool bar service is good. Everyone left on Sunday so the resort is kind of dead. Beach is nice but windy. Grounds are well maintained. Shopping is 12 minutes drive away. Not much to do here if you don't golf or play tennis. Most restaurants closed Monday and Tuesday.

The condo was better than in the pictures and the beach was great as well as the pool.

Mrs. Kelly Ortiz treated me extremely well. She assisted me in the pre-check in and check in, she explained me all about the parking, golf cars and other things. The village was very well cleaned, the pool was very nice with clear water and a very good music.

All the components exist for a joyful stay at this facility however the lack of attention to detail spoiled the experience for me and my family. Upon reception, I was met with staff rather bored at checking guest into the facility. The unit assigned was poorly appointed. Couch and chair cushions were worn, torn, and faded. The dining table top was rigged up to match a dangerously small support base. Twin beds were much too small for an adult. Sofa bed was old. Dust and debris were left behind nightstand. Kitchen didn't have a cookie or baking sheet. No salad bowl but 2 large wash and drain bowels. Glassware and hard tile not a good combo for kids. Towels and bedding were not ample at check-in. Poolside drinks were 20oz of cocktail mix and food quality proved inconsistent. Grounds were not as clean as I would have expected. Parking is not included in the resort fee. Tennis courts are $15 per person per hour which seemed a bit steep with your own gear. Pools were clean and nice. Swimmers beach is about an hour's drive north. Beware of the golf cart derby that begins at sunset as the youth take over the roads. We love PR and this is our 3rd visit to the island. Next time we will look for a resort closer to the Luquillo region.

The resort is itself is beautiful and the staff is friendly. We were fortunate enough to get a room with a view of the Marina and privacy on the balcony. It did not seem that if you had the rooms facing the road or at the pool that you would be provided that privacy. Our room was clean but dated and tired. The sofa bed had unmatched cushions on it and was uncomfortable to sit on. We did not, but if you have a problem with steps, this may not be the resort for you. There are a lot of steps everywhere, both in our room and around the resort because it is located on a hillside. Be prepared to pay for parking. The parking lot is gate controlled so you pay each time you go out or in with fee dependent on the amount of time your car is in the lot. The parking lot is also quite a distance up a hill to get to. The resort has 7 very nice restaurants on the grounds. The beach is nice, and the resort provides free transportation to the farther beaches. They also have with free beach chairs and umbrellas at the farthest beach. The security at the pool was very strict when it came to wearing wrist bands, food, and kids jumping off the edge of the pool or running. I personally would not recommend this resort with a family that has small kids. They don't allow you to bring food or drinks to the pool unless you buy from their bar or restaurant at the pool. It just made us feel that between the parking fee, the $70 resort fee and not allowing us to bring food or drink to the pool that we were getting nickled and dimed.
