Kaatskill Mountain Club and Condos by Hunter Mountain

We stayed here for one night while attending the NORA Hunter Mountain off-road tour and received a discounted group rate. The location was perfect, the room was clean, comfortable, and better than I expected. The staff and restaurant were excellent, I really enjoyed the pizza, and our waitress was fantastic. My only suggestions would be to add a microwave to the rooms and keep coffee available throughout the day. The light continental breakfast was appreciated, but everything was packed away fairly early. The only reason we didn’t stay longer was the room rate. I completely understand that resorts have seasonal and event pricing, and I may simply not be the target guest for that pricing. Had there been an opportunity to extend our stay for another night or two at a reduced off-season rate, we probably would have stayed and explored the area a little more. Regardless, we enjoyed our stay, were treated very well, and wouldn’t hesitate to return if our travels brought us back to Hunter Mountain.

What a dump. We paid a crazy amount of money for 3 nights at a 3 bedroom condo at the Liftside condos, via Hunter Mountain bookings/Kaatskill Mountain Club. The condo hasn’t been updated since at least the 1980s. It smelled of mildew and had no working TV. Maintenance tried but was unable to get the TV working. Hard to entertain a family with no TV and no games available in the condo. The Van Winkle restaurant in the Kaatskill Club opens at 4 (even on the weekends), so there’s no option for lunch or a mid-day cocktail/snack. You either have to drive somewhere in Hunter or fight the crowds at the base restaurants. The decor inside the Kaatskill club lobby is also outdated and is badly in need of a refresh. Hunter Mountain was much smaller than we realized — some good runs, but overall not very exciting. The only upside of the Liftside condos is the location — it is a 2 minute walk to the base/lifts.

We love the northern Catskills, and this location on Hunter Mountain is great. We don't ski, but we come off-season in the spring or summer or fall, when the area is beautiful and green. We have stayed here a number of times. We like the look and feel of the hotel, and the staff is friendly. This is a typical skiers hotel, with matter-of-fact rooms, but they are large and well laid-out, and the hotel offers a nice deal on a family double room. We ask for a valley view, which looks out across the small town. The one issue is the food. The restaurant has no character and the food is bad. We usually drive into Tannersville for dinner.

The most relaxing view from the top floor. We enjoy the hot spa and the food. We drove few minutes to the Main Road and enjoy local shopping stores and local food＞ I would go back to step out of the crowd of a city.

Fantastic staff in a beautiful resort. Not a lot going on in Summer but very relaxing. We’d recommend it if you like hiking and nature and want to relax!

Be very careful. I have stayed here in the past but I will never stay here again. We needed to reserve for a family funeral. Two nights (Fri out on Sunday) cost $801, with no housekeeping (not even freshen bathroom) and no breakfast or lunch in the hotel dining room. They neglected to tell us the restaurant opened at 4 pm Fri & Sat, close at 9 pm, closes earlier on Sunday. Two vending machines with water @$4 per. A “grab & go” breakfast that consisted of the smallest muffins I’ve ever seen, coffee, tea, that’s it. Didn’t have an option to purchase more, I.e. fruit, yogurt. If you want housekeeping it’s an extra daily charge (not sure how much). You deal with your luggage in your own. The property is dated & in need of lots of TLC+. The refrigerator motor was so loud & the air conditioning was right next to the bed & was freezing on the lowest setting. We were limited in choices of hotels near where we needed to go. We sent an email outlining our experience & basically got a so sorry. It was a take it or leave it attitude. Extremely disappointed. If there was less than 1 star i would have chosen that rating.

This dated place is expensive and without scheduled amenities, such as restaurant & bar open for breakfast or lunch. No housekeeping available for any length stay. Beds & furniture old & in need of replacement. The refrigerator sounded like it has a gas engine and erupted at all hours of the night. No water for coffee provided...worst mistake in 80 years of travel. Beautiful country but stay away from this dump.

Had a great time. A lot to see & do even in rainy weather. Beautiful area, great food, excellent hiking.
