Dalesgate Hotel - Self Check IN

Make sure you receive the code for entry BEFORE you arrive. I didn’t receive it! Called the 0800 number and eventually got access. The hotel and room is very dated, it felt like going back to the 70’s. I could not stand properly up to urinate in the toilet the space was so tight. Bed creaked when you sat/laid on it. On a more positive note, the breakfast choice is superb. My partner had a full English breakfast, it looked delicious. I had a continental breakfast. Excellent! Not worth £80 stay for 1 night.

Excellent friendly hotel, great value for money, great breakfast. Everything as described and you get what you pay for. Easy to check-in. Large car park, CCTV all around, felt safe.

This place has very poor facility, the building is so old and out dated, there is nothing around this area and is located by the main road (so it is noisy). There is no one at the hotel during the prime check-in time, everything and everyone is virtual. I won't call this a hotel or a B&B.

Decent enough area with buses into town centre if needed or a 20 minute walk. Good parking, clean enough but very basic room. Tea and coffee making facilities. Fairly comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast by a lady who seems to have to run the place on her own. Overall stay totally let down by the fact no hot water was available either on the evening or in the morning so no shower and even the cold water ran at a trickle which in my opinion is totally unacceptable. Spoke to the manager/owner and whilst he apologised did not offer a refund of any sort. Would not stay again as my impression is this hotel is run from a distance and will only get worse in the future as it appears a little run down now.

This is an interesting hotel quite close to Skipton. The ground floor at the front - main road is on the 1st floor and at the back it's the basement. Staircases are quite narrow and, until you get used to them, a bit of a rabbit warren. The automatic check in / door security system are based on the last 6 letters of your mobile followed by the *. I was there three nights and only got it completely right on the last morning. My room was in the attic space but comfortable enough if you remembered to duck round the sloping ceiling. The breakfast was the highlight of my stay as Karen, the only human I encountered during my visit (except other guests), always had a lovely welcome and was ready to take your orders. Tea, coffee, milk, juices, cereals and fruit were self-service but a selection of cooked breakfasts are available. Interesting, boutique ish hotel with a large free car park behind.

We were here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and asked if they could give us a room with a view, we then got an email confirming that they can indeed accommodate. However, upon arriving and getting into our room, the room was tiny, claustrophobic, and with no view at all. After contacting someone, im guessing the owner, However, he didn't introduce himself - our room was changed for bigger, but for worse than the original room, the windows overlooked the road and there was constant traffic, even at night, meaning there was no chance for a good night's sleep. At the end of the conversation with the so-called owner, after telling him we booked for a special occasion, he ended the conversation with a "Happy Birthday." THIS CLEARLY SHOWS NO COMMUNICATION WITHIN STAFF NOR WITHIN THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMMUNICATED WITH ME VIA EMAIL. Because of disappointment, we left the hotel after one night (we had two nights booked in the hotel).

Trouble getting in from the start, No hot water for a shower. Very rude female member of staff serving breakfast and very unprofessional, Telling a tale about previous manager. Did not eat cook breakfast provided as very dubious about food hygiene. Placed a report with local council.

Fantastic stay. Huge range of breakfast. Lovely and helpful members of staff. Staff were fantastic. Beds were extremely comfortable. Probably one of the best night sleeps I’ve had. Would Definately go back for a return visit.
